So I think I'll get working on the stereo tomorrow..

I'll be installing the Rainbow Sound Line components (from the group buy..)
and either 1 MB Quart amp for the speakers, or:

the soundline components and 1 small 8" sub, with two of these amps:

Also - anything I should know before ripping into the stereo?

Is there a certain side I should run the power wire?

and lastly - is it possible to amp the fronts - but still have the rears and the factory sub working?

k.. well apline is a great company so good pick on that
you probably know this but with aftermarket radios ur steering control wont work until you buy the adapter... also getting all the harnesses saves a ton of time and i ran the power cables on the driver side (closer to battery) and all my speaker cables on the pass side .... this way i had plenty of room on both saide and the plastic didnt give me a hard time to put back in place not sure about that last question because i replaced everything but good luck

 

run your power driver side and rcas passenger side to avoid road noise.

If you get an aftermarket radio you could run an amp for the fronts.

Just wire the rear speakers to the radio. Then use the front rca in your radio and run it the the front rca on the amp. The only thing is now you have to wire the front speakers to the amp. I would just do all four speakers and get a 4 channel amp. Do it right the first time because you will eventually want to replace all speakers.

I think the new technology has allowed us to start running speaker wires and rca's together and not creating noise. I always run mine down seperate sides, but its an old habit and I don't mind a little extra work. Might want to check on it though, I'm sure someone on the audio forum will chime in on this after its moved there.........which will happen lol

That's a myth.

You can run an amp even if you don't get an aftermarket radio. It just sounds better with one.

Just bridge the amp to the front speakers and run the rear speakers off the HU. If you're not getting an aftermarket HU, then you're going to have to run all 4 speakers off the amp.

3/4 MDF rings work just the same, and it's cheaper.

Hot glue works just the same.

Again, audio forum is your best friend.

 

To regain use of the trip computer (the one with temp, DTE, MPG, etc.) you have to first locate the small wiring harness you removed from the stock deck, but diudn't use in the install of your aftermarket deck. This is a small harness with 4-5 wires in it. One of these wires is brown with a white stripe/marking. This wire must be cut from the harness, the stripped and grounded. I recommend grounding it to the large metal peice below the vents (you can use a small screw or electrical tape), or any other grounding site. This will now give you full use of all steering wheel controls.

 

I know this post is a little old, but in case someone comes looking, I just grounded the brown wire, and it worked like a charm.
