Can 00/01 headlights be swapped into an 02?

I'm driving down the tollway and the truck in front of me loses a big chunk of plywood (3' x 3') and I see it fly into the air in slow-motion. It looks likes it's going to land square in the middle of my hood or windshield but I swerve hard left and it takes out my right front headlight. It shattered the assembly but all the lights still work. I taped it back together with some clear tape but now am contemplating what to do for a permanent fix. We all know how freaking expensive these lights are so I was thinking of maybe just swapping to some 00/01 lights and selling my other HID. I will probably be trading the car in next year so I dont really care right now. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Scott

yeah they fit, theres some things you need to get, check the FAQs cuz i cant remember what they are, but they do fit with no problems. you would also have to switch your lights though from HID to halogen.

Yes, the halogens fit but you have to do some re-wiring and, plus they will leave a gap on the bumper which is noticeable. Like someone else said, use some weatherstrip of some kind to hide the gap.

It destroyed the clear lens and broke a big chunk of the gray housing inside, I'm surprised the light even works anymore. But thanks anyways for the offer. I've tried searching the FAQ but I cant find anything about the swap, I suppose I will just get the 01 lights and wing it on the install. If there's a gap.....oh well, I can get some weathersripping to fill it I guess.

Hit up ebay, sometimes you can find just the housing for pretty cheap.

Call a body shop and see if they can get just the housing...

If the come WITH the HID's they are really expensive, the trick is getting them without.

If you are trading in your car I would deff keep the HID's, you might take a big hit for not having them anymore.

You didn't chase the truck down and demand he or his insurance pay for a new light?

I would have chased him down and called the cops. Drivers are responsible for securing their load; if his load wasn't tied down properly, you shouldn't be at fault and have a good chance of going after his insurance company.
