ES 6 spd shifter bushing impressions

1) Shift action is very stiff and accurate(In a great way)
2) Notchiness is greatly reduced
3) Shifter no longer flops around under acceleration
4) Worth every penny and minute invested
5) Directions were ok. Air box needs to be removed in order to access final bushing
6) My shifter now feels like it belongs in a performance sedan!!

Awesome improvement and mod. Everybody with a 6 speed should have these installed. There are absolutely no negative side effects and the bushings are cheap ($$$ wise) and well made

Where did you get this ES shifter bushing from?

Thanks

I have to install my set soon. Mine are so worn right now. I kept missing 3rd in the 1/4 a couple of weeks ago.

Thank you for the impression, that was the motivation I needed to get off my butt and install them tomorrow.

I got mine from Blemhco. Fairly cheap mod for a positive difference.

I got mine from Steve G at www.sportcompactonly.com.

You can also get em directly from ES at www.suspension.com.

Those ES bushings are probably one of the easiest/cheapest bang for the buck mods. I combinded that with a B&M shifter on my G20t, night and day difference! (Max is an auto)

Took me longer than 1/2 hour because I was having trouble getting the new "banjo" bushing back in. Other than that the install is pretty easy and only requires strong hands.

www.suspension.com seemed to have the best prices

Is the 'shifter bushings set' part # 7-1115 what we need? ($18 at http://www.suspension.com/nissancars.htm )

yes, that is the one. You have to order by phone, and they can confirm you have the correct part number.

I did notice one drawback:

In second gear, there is quite a bit of vibration in the shifter at higher RPMs...only noticable when little to no throttle is applied (ie: engine braking) but it's still annoying.

There are several. Some go right by your shifter (underneath your shift boot) and others go under the hood at the shift linkage on the side of the transmission.

Just be careful on the large bushing that goes on the interior side of the cable. Don't overtighten the nut holding it in place. I did a while back and snapped my shifter cable. Not a fun replacement. Other than that, these bushings are amazing.

You can also just flip that nut around so a smaller surface area touches the bushing then you can full tighten it with no binding.
