Front windows rolling down by themselves!?
Hey guys, I post regularly on G20.net. I'm having a problem with our Maxima and was refered here.
I used the Google search method in the FAQ and couldn't find an answer. My problem is this: Whenever I shut my car off, the two front windows roll down by themselves. While the car is on, windows function normally: roll up/down, "auto" up/down works just fine. I thought maybe the master switch had gone bad, so I ordered a replacement (used), no change. I'm stumped, what else could cause these windows to roll down on their own?
I have a 2003 SE Auto
Some G20.net members posted links to maxima.org, but they refered to the alarm system and all were 4th gen. Does that auto rollup feature exist on the 5.5 gens?

if you hold down the "unlock" button on your remote keyfob, it will roll the front windows down. maybe there is a relay broken somewhere that triggers the same thing. or maybe your "unlock" button is stuck on the remote. you could try to leave the keyfob far away from the car, and then shut it off. this will make sure the keyfob is not malfunctioning.

It could also be the keyhole in the drivers door. When you put the key in and turn it makes the windows go up or down depending on the way you turn it. Thats also how maximas are usually broken into, the wires are cut behind the handle making the windows go down only when the key isnt in the ignition. You can check that.

Edit: my file seems to be corrupt. I will upload the full one tonight, when I get home.

Thanks volk125 for post the FSM. Reading up on the power window system on the 2003, it looks pretty complicated. There's an extra "CPU" in the circuit. This controls the power delay when you turn the car off (45 sec to roll up windows or open door), it looks like I also have the feature of turning the door lock in the lock or unlock position to open/close the windows. (I never knew I had that feature!)
For trouble shooting, the first culprit is the main switch in the driver's door. I've already replaced that, so the next step according to the FSM is to hook up a Consult-II to check this other CPU. That will tell me if I have a condition with one of the outside door locks, or if the cpu itself is malfunctioning.
Damn, looks like I have to take it to the stealership and have them "diagnose" this problem for me.
Interesting side fact: the Consult-II can be used to edit the entry/exit parameters. ie: length of power delay for windows, how the headlights behave, horn, etc.

Which module? No my door locks aren't acting funny, just my windows roll down when I turn the key off.
Right now I unplugged the smaller plug on the main window switch (I'm guessing power) to stop the windows from rolling down. I bigger plug is still connected and the keyless entry still locks/unlocks the doors for me... If I unhook both plugs the keyless doesn't work anymore.
Thanks

okay, i looked into it a litle further. i was talking about the secu, but theres a unit inside both switches also.
try pulling pin 33 (blue) out of the secu. that should tell you wether the problem is the secu, or either window switch.
