need intake answer asap

i had an injen CAI intake but its been raining really bad and alot of water is around and i was afraid of gettin water in it...so i made my own short ram intake which i like better...now the 3 vacuum hoses that run to the take. do they need to be connected or can i just leave them open and put a small filter on them? the only one that is really pulling alot of VAC is thee big one from the valve cover...should it be pulling vac or does the intake need to be pulling the vacuum from it? or is it fine either way...

Injen has applied technology to help you gain power. It's a cold airintake, designed to give you cold air for more HP. The short ram intake you fab'd is going to pull all of the "heat soak" hot air from your engine compartment, which will affect your HP negatively. I live in Washington now, and moved here from Dallas, so to a fellow Texan, you don't know $hit about rain, it rains here 250-280 days a year. Buy a K&N drycharger "bag" to cover your filter, they keep out all the water but let a lot of air flow. Good luck!!!

Drill a few holes in the tube you made put a rubber grommet in and a plastic tee. I know a guy who did the same thing. I doubt running with your vac hoses exposed is a good idea.

the injen is not a cold air intake (i dont care what injen says to sell an intake) and it gets hot air too. someone on here did temp tests and the temp was the same for an injen and short ram (berk, etc)

"applied technology"?

not to jack ur thread or anything... didn't think it was necessary to open up a new thread... but can someone tell me the differences between a 4th gen intake and a 5th gen intake... i mean we do have the same motor etc... my main intention was to put a place racing cold air intake in... but not many out there... so will the 4th gen fit in? thanks in advance

they all work the same and provide minimal performance gains. the only thing to consider when deciding is looks, name, and price

Has anyone ever done a before and after intake dyno.

I have, the ony change was an intake and 17* timing advance, and that does nothing after 2300 RPM's. So as far as wot peak power, I gained 22whp from an intake.

Conditions were within 2% (Ambient air pressure, temp and humidity) and the only change was an intake. One gained 22 whp, and the other gained 15 whp.

dynos dont prove anything since there is no proof of mods.

Im not trying to promote any intake, I bought mine used on here for 50$ shipped.

I'm just posting my results.

All of my dynos are posted in the dyno forum with their information (mods at the time) Not making anything up.

** Also The A/F was affected. When using an intake, it runs a smidge leaner, thus solving A33B 'rich' issues so the whp could be a result of that too. W/an intake 13.5 was seen from 5k + IIRC, and it would stay in the 12's (low) when in stock airbox mode.

If you are afraid of water, doesn't AEM make a valve that prevents water from entering a CAI? IIRC, they make it in like 2.5, 2.75, and 3" variations.

Oh, and nice loop-to-loop on the dyno graph!
