The ULTIMATE LED Instrument Cluster...sneak peek!

I'll have this done in a week or two...just waiting on some LEDs right now. This was a very rough prototype utilizing 28 SMT LEDs and a TO220 voltage regulator for stability..I should have a cleaner one done this week.

How many red top Optima's are you going to need to run all of these lighting mods you've added?

Looks good BTW.

lol, thanks, Tim.

The cluster will be running 13.2 amps when all is said in done, which I think is on par with the 4 filament style bulbe in there.

I'm pretty sure they can be. They just don't have as many dim settings as reg. bulbs. Why I think so, is b/c when I put LEDs in the interior, when doors close the lights inside dim.. and the LEDs dimmed too.. So i think these will dim too. ?!?

yes, no?

LED's will dim, but not as linearly as a normal bulb.

So did you actually pull the needles off your gauges, or is that just a junk piece for practice?

Just a junk peice of plastic. I am likley going to dremel off my needles to put clear ones in to allow for blue needles. Which segues into...

start mass producing these because everyone is going to want one
...the funny part. This mod can be done WITHOUT removing the needles. Keep in mind this is just a very early shot of things to come, my friends.

I want to get this done soon as it will put me over the 200 mark for number of LEDs in my car. I think I will break 400 once the exterior lighting is done.

Is just going to be the backing and then the LED's? Wont they still shine through as green because of that whole Blue backing on the cluster?

I have ways around this as well.

HUGE difference. SMT LEDs were esentially the 'next gen' of LEDs after the 5mm and 3mm versions.

I understand the LED's, how about posting some detail on taking care of the blue stuff so I dont have to turpintine/remove my needles. I'm not all about that.

My search of his post history = him installing this uber high wattage HID simulation kit ....and good job on the gauges! But wouldn't an I35 gauge cluster be easier?

Guess he needs glasses as well.

At this point in time, I have close to 145 LEDs in my car. The OEM cluster, even with the backsides sanded and 4 Polarg bulbs in there, is simply NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH.

say metal, that would be a good project you may want to embark on FOR CHANGE. I think those blinking lights are getting to your head. if you only knew how many people YOU pissed off, you'd lock yourself in a closet with your leds and cluster. But you are just too deep in denial to even care. You think that you are the only one on this forum who has complete understanding of everything. sorry to pop your bubble, but you are cynical, stubborn, annoying and IGNORANT. When you have nothing useful to post in a thread, you just make some stupid comment that pisses the originator off. and then when people start telling you the truth, you make yourself look like a victim. that's just pathetic. and who said i have a problem with anyone else on this org? see, that is just an example of your denial, you are starting to believe your own imaginary things.
Hopefully, this is my last message to you, because even though i tried becomeing friends with you, every comment you make just assures me that you are the last person i want to have anything to do with. DO NOT post in my threads, i just DO NOT CARE about your worthless opinion. plus there's nothing useful you can contribute anyways, since i know how to operate a LED off a car battery. just some friendly advice, take those 145 LEDs you have on your car and use them to locate a stick that's been up your a$$ for at least as long as i know you. i know that inside you there is a rational human being trying to get out, so use those LEDs to guide him .

I'm not going to get into this with you about who's been in who's thread, but after doing a quick search, it seems that you tend to jump into Dan's threads and personally bash his work and everything he's done to assist others with LED mods. You both can simply add each other to your ignore list and you will never see each other's posts. That's what I would recommend.
