Hosting disks
Oh.. BTW if some of you still want to have all the disks hosted, let me know. I have hosting space where I can upload the ISO's, and you can direct download them from your browser, so no FTP or nothing like that. Cause I know alot of people put them on Megaupload, but I was just suggesting this so that we can have an organized list to go to for all in one. And I know that FTP from '07 is no good. So let me know people, and I'll hook it up, and can start taking the ISO's.

Or are you saying in order to use 5.5 maps, there's an update CD for that too?
Sorry, this is all kinda new to me, but...
I am looking for MCA 5 v5.5 .iso - Can anybody help?

Thanks much,
LoU!
What I believe the "trick" is - You MUST use an "old school" CD-R disk, - 650MB capacity, and NOT the newer 700MB+ ones.
I had the same issue, burned 3 disks with no success - then I had a stash of old CD-R's - 650MB capacity - worked like a charm.
See if this works for you...
Also - looking for MCA 5 v5.5 PLEASE!
Thanks!
Hey, I have the 7 and 8 discs, I burned them off of the megaupload links like 6 months ago. Are you burning using an .iso writing program. I used dvd decrypter, and they both work perfectly. I can burn them for you if you want and ship them for 5 bucks, but if you get dvd dycrypter, I can walk you through it to make them yourself, it's pretty straightforward with that program

Thanks, man. I will gladly paypal for burning the discs for me. I have tried several times and have given up.
Also, how is your navi system working? My screen has started to open and then close immediately and it beeps three times. I thought it may be the heat, these older screens are more susceptible to high and low temps, but also seems to happen when its not that hot out.
Please give me your PP.
Ok, cool. I have region 7 ver 5.4 and ver 5.5 for region 8. I'll PM you the paypal, and send me back your addy. And I had that problem when I was messing around with it all when I put my PAC converter in. Check the small 4 pin harness at the screen, that's the power and ground. For me, the purple wire was coming apart. Tightened it back up and I was good. Though I hardwired my navi system in my car, my model didn't come with it so if yours was built in the car, I would say disco the screen and trace that harness for any frays, and make sure the pin connector is tight in the harness
^^
payment sent, thanks.
as for the screen issue, i will have to check the connections. i have had other problems with the system, so i dread checking them again. makes sense it's the purple wire though, the yellow is the battery power and the purple is the ACC/ON wire, i believe, so that's the power while car is on. my I30 did not have navi, so i wired mine in also. i've also lost the VSS signal so I have to double check that harness is also.
when you say the purple wire was coming apart, do you mean from the harness? i have a feeling that's the issue with the VSS wire also.
thanks for the screen info, gives me hope i can get it working again.

Oh ok, did it the hard way like me
But yeah, it wasn't coming from the harness, my soldier came apart and the wire broke. I think I pulled it when I was doing my amp install, and was in there putting in the pac coverter. Had to fix that and the voice guidance connection. But the VSS, where did you run it from? I ran mines directly to the speedometer, tapped into the wire on one of the harnesses. Don't remember which one, and my wire schems are buried in my drawer or toolbox somewhere. If you need, I can see if I can find them one day. And your discs are in the mail tomorrow morning

i ran the VSS from speedo cluster, the purple/red wire IIRC. I need to check the connections again. as for the openeing and immediately closing, i just hope the screen isn't on its way out. i didn't solder the wires, i used the wire tap method. perhaps they've come loose.

Hello All - I am new to this forum. I have a 2001 I30t with Navigation and just moved to Memphis, TN. from Chicago,IL. I created an ISO file of my MCA5_5.1 disc. It's not v5.5 but the latest that I have. Here is the link:
MCA5_5.1 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2UPGNXIT
I know it works because I burned a copy of the ISO after I made it. The copy ran successfully in my car.
That said, now I need a copy of the DISC that has the Memphis, TN. data base. Can anyone help me with this.
Thanks.

I have v5.0 which the special menu says cd-rom: 000419-1281 Installed program: ILK32031. I am looking for v5.5 mca2 which is for washington state. When do I need the installer? Contact me at rtaylor@lightspeed.ca
I have a 2003 I35. A few years back, I thought that version 5.4 would be the last update, so I bought all 9 CDs from a guy in North Carolina. I contacted him again, but he sold his Maxima.
I am looking for version 5.5 navigation CDs for a 2003 I35. I currently have version 5.4 complete. I really only need disks 5,6,7,8,and 9, but the complete set would be nice. I would be willing to share if you need any version 5.4.
Thanks in Advance,
Mike

Nav MCA 2 - V5.4.rar or MCA 2 V5.5.rar
Does anyone know where or who has a copy of these files?
or the iso versions so that I can download.
Megaupload says they are on usenet.nl website and when I register and do a search it can find nothing.
Any advise would be appreciated.

MCA2 5.5.2
Here is what I have so far (CD-ROM versions):
MCA-1 5.5v (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3KDBWB8A) 051006-1280
MCA-2 X.Xv (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QER7YN5N) 010501-1281 (I think its 5.0 version)
MCA-3 5.5v (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=613BOPHH) 051017-1282
MCA-4
MCA-5
MCA-6
MCA-7 5.4v (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7LDEPEYF) 040722-1286
MCA-8 5.5v (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=G5WKVUI6) 051011-1287
MCA-9 5.5v (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=D9NKOPM0) 051013-1288
I think if you brake down those numbers here is my take first 2 numbers represent year, second 2 numbers represent month, third 2 numbers represent day after dash I think it represents what region its for.
Here is 5.5 Installer (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UWNXV3HY) - not tested by me, so I can't help you with it. My current software version - WXC32031 and above MAP CDs work great on my Navigation system, and I have checked it my self.

MCA2 v5.5
Just wanted to let everyone know I found someone to upload MCA2 and MCA6 but unfortunately he only uploaded the CDROM.DAT that was on the nav discs instead of ripping the whole cd. If anyone knows of a way to get these working feel free to help yourselves to the files.
MCA2 v5.5 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=E6OY9U3F
MCA6 v5.5 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JJRRLHW0
I have tried burning them as data cds with the CDROM.DAT placed in the root directory but the navigation system doesn't accept it. My hopes were that there is a way to rip the hidden information from one of the other discs and use it in conjunction with these.
Anyway I am still trying to see if the person that uploaded these for me will try making rips in iso form instead. If he does I will gladly post the urls here as well.
EDIT: Just wanted to point out that CDROM.DAT is the majority of the information, I think the hidden tracks that we need are just to prevent copying cds although most cd rippers can pull it if you rip the cd instead of pulling just the data file.

MCA2 V5.5
Thanks to sas_mk we all now have a copy of MCA2. She messaged me asking if I had found a working copy which I had still not been successful in doing so, but I told her I would let her know if I came across a copy.
Turns out she found a copy faster than I did, so I gave her directions on how to upload it for all of us to benefit from. Here is the image, the link should be good for 2 months and it will keep renewing every time someone downloads a full copy.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QER7YN5N MCA2 V5.5
If for some reason the link goes bad, feel free to message me and I will upload a new copy as I usually save software locally for a pretty long time. There were some questions as to what version the above software was because she received a copied version herself, but the word is that it is in fact 5.5. If someone has a way of verifying that for us it would be good to know.
Anyway the above image was downloaded and tested by me, so I know it does work. If anyone needs help downloading and burning it just hit me up in the thread or in private message. Thanks again sas_mk!
EDIT: Just want to add one more thing, make sure you burn these images at the slowest setting possible to ensure faster load times in your car. Our car's navigation system wasn't designed for burned cds so they take longer to read from. Burning slower ensures that the data is easier to read with weaker lasers. I initially burned my copy on the fastest setting and noticed the car taking a while to load street names when entering in destinations. Now that I've re-burned on a slower speed everything is much quicker and pops up almost instantly now. Another thing that will help preserve the life of the cd is to not label with sharpy marker, I actually didn't label my primary disc at all since I'll almost never need to remove it.

OK, I'll try to run down the differences, at least so far as Zenrin is concerned...
The DVD, of course, has a lot more data per disc. That said, they are not as detailed, in some areas. This is due to the fact that they DO contain all the regions on a single disc.
Since DVDs generally only have room for 4.7 GB of data and a single CD can contain 650 MB, the DVD has to skimp in some areas, especially when you consider there are 9 regions (@ about 600MB per region) and when you consider that they aren't a direct swap over from the CDs. Also keep in mind that the DVDs have Canada, as well. That's a lot of data for 4.7 GB of space.
DVDs are getting a lot better, however. The more time that goes by, the better they are becoming... just like anything else. Each release has more detailed maps of more areas. Here's an example of what I mean:

7.0

7.1

7.2 (the latest)
Anyway, all that being said, the DVDs are really getting a leg up on CDs now. They are really starting to have a lot better coverage in some areas (mostly Canada).
The CDs only have a single "region" per disc. There are some regions that are small but are very detailed. Some regions are huge but, due to roads, population centers, etc, they may not be all that detailed. Also, to get the entire country on disc, it would cost about 4 times as much as the single DVD option... plus, you don't get Canada.
