Just bought a Max 2 months ago. Don't get me wrong. I love my 2001 Max SE, started souping it up with a Stillen hi-flow intake and Toyo tires. I don't make a lot of money so upgrades don't come cheap for me, but I pride myself on beating more powerful cars *cough*COBRA*cough* on skill and traffic management alone [used to race with a
Ford Escort ;-)].

But what's this I see? The specs for the '02 Max came out and once again I have been royally screwed. Apparenly another 40 HP and all that "extra" C&C s#!t I put up the money for is now STANDARD? Aero and a FRONT mounted CD changer? LSD? GPS? Lemme go shoot myself.

Here's to another five years of car payments >:-(

At least I can powerslide with the best of 'em. My anger will make me drive harder >:-)

Great forum BTW!

BUT...no one knows what they're going to do with the prices. Surely if all these C&C features and HID are added for "free," the base price will be higher. Hope that makes you feel better.

Welcome aboard, and plan to stay and participate...it's a lot of fun here.

You're gonna love your Maxima, regardless of what they might do to next year's model.

Would everyone be happy if they put non-power door locks and windows on the 2002 Max? Or how about decreasing the horsepower to 200hp? Or maybe just kept all models the same for the next 10 years?

What the hell did you expect? This topic got old weeks ago.

personally, i could care less. each gen of cars will get better.. i mean how likely is it that you get a car, and the next gen will be lesshp and perform not as well? its life. i wouldnt worry about it. if you get 2002, you'd be screwed when 2003 comes, and so forth.

Wow, neat responses. I don't mean to sound naive, I know the next model will always be better than the last one. But not THAT much better, and only a few months away...

My only hope is that it's butt ugly. That'll make me feel better >:-)

If it's signifigantly different than the '01 would it be considered a 6th gen max?

Nah, still a 5th gen. Just minor adjustments in the big picture.

it's all cycle

It's all a cycle... i feel screwed because i didn't wait or know about the 20th AE maxima... you feel screwed because of the 2002 maxima, plus i feel kinda sad that the 2002 is out and can whoop the 2k1 in the behind.

But this is what i am happy, i can still kill a CIVIC and even a bmw 325, and have not yet tried it yet but apparently a ACURA TYPE S

Roger
p.s. 222+ future Intake+ exhaust is enough horsepower for me,
All i want is those headlights from the 2k2, that's it, screw the 2k2 maxima.

you know, every time i read one of these posts i get pretty upset myself about the whole 2002/3 model changes, especially regarding the altima. i'm not rich and my monthly payments for my max are a good chunk of my paycheck. i was looking for a good car that would drive well, look decent, and last a while. what i got was a car that will be supplanted 3 years after its inception.
having said that, when i climb into my maxima the next morning, i am always pleased. my desire for something better is supplanted by the pride of owning my current car. i'm proud of the fact that it's my first major purchase in life. and of the fact that it really is a great car. in light of that, i harbor no regrets in my decision.

The only way they will get people to buy their new models is to make it better then the old... this is life as we know it guys... same thing goes with every industry, look at computers or electronics... SOS. Just enjoy what you've got!!! Hey, look at it this way... if you do some mods and race a new 2002 Max and bet him... he will be like wtf

I agree with all these posts to a degree. My feelings on the matter are that I see no reason to get a 2002. I mean sure the hp is up and the six speed but I dont see enough other changes for me to get a 2002. If the 2003 is really a total redesign why buy the 2002. Like they say technology will make you go broke well I feel the same way about cars, like others have said there is always going to be something better coming out if you try to keep up you'll be broke in no time.

B content......

with the Max you have....no use in getting po'ed about next years changes....if you do..you'll po'ed again next next year....life's too short that crap....heck, blame the salesperson who sold you the car. I have my car less than a year, found out about the enhancements to the Altima and Maxima, got upset and got over it. It's product developement at it's best.....mod your max and enjoy....

Hey dude, no offence but everyone have the right to express himself without being bashed by other, dont forget we live in a free country he is a Max brother and have the right to express his feeling after buying and 01 and see that the 02 which is just few months away will blow him away.

When I bought my 2k1 se 20 th, the differance with the 2K was like 5 hp, but if it would have been 40 HP and a 6th speed my Nissan rep would have received a truck load of **it for not telling me so, dont forget we are spending a good amount of money we are not talking about firefly here, but rather a 23K $$$ car.
I you need to ventilate just take a walk on the beach.

Cheers
