What the? Ever find this in your airbox?

When I removed my airbox for the ES Shifter Bushing installation, I heard something rattling inside. When I opened it up, I saw about a handfull of sunflower seeds inside, most of them were already shelled but some were still in their shells. There were a couple of acorns too. I vacuumed it all out, but WTF!?

P.S. The ES shifter bushings are incredible! Everyone with a 6-speed should put these in.

Sunflower seeds in the airfilter box? this is hilarious, I wonder if anyone was in there eating it, geez, how does it got in there. unless some dumb mechanic was eating it while it was open to change the filter

My guess:

The lower resonating chamber (the translucent white box that sits below the battery) is/was not connected to the tube leading to the airbox. With this tube open, it allowed small animals to get up in your airbox....perhaps a chipmunk or mouse.....

actually, It's one of those pesky MLB Baseball players. you know how they like to crawl up in dark places and eat sunflower seeds just waiting for someone to get them out of retirement or put them in the hall of fame.

So thats what the name of that thing is. You know I even have the damn service manual and I still have yet to find what the hell it's for.

So what is the lower resonating chamber for anyway? My foam on it's seal needs replacing. Thanks.
