My ABS rear hardly changed the distance between the muffler and the bumper, or the muffler to the kit. Because of the material used does not react to heat well, and the exhaust setup I chose to go with does not make a good combination, I foresee others possibly having the same issue.

Now if I had my stock muffler I doubt this would occur. Even with the Franklincar and Greddy, I'm almost positive the same situation would occur.

The urethane would probably be more heat tolerant and it should always form back to shape, but not melt like this did.

My point of this thread really is to show the lack of durability of this ABS rear along with pretty much any exhaust that is aftermarket excluding tips only or a stocker.

People don't really want to buy the ABS front because it would crack or semi shatter if you hit something. I don't know of anyone that has an ABS rear and one of the mentioned exhaust setups, so I don't think it's never happened before.

This should be considered as a headsup only if you decide to have an exhaust system/rear section and get an ABS rear. (Tips only and stock mufflers should be fine, but I have nothing to confirm that 100%)

Your EGT runs about 11-1200 Degrees or so, as those gasses expand and leave the headers, to your CM B pipe, to your CM muffler, they cool down. Otherwise running a 1200 degree exhaust past a gas tank would not be such a good idea. Raidant heat, combustable liquid, stuff like that. Now if his TIP was getting hot enough to not only melt ABS, but burn it as seen in the photos, his EGT may be too hot. Since ABS plastic has a melting point of about 220 degrees or so, I thought I would ask. And since the ABS shows signs of BURNING, EGT's need to be above 220 at his tip. An exhaust that is hot enough to do that, could be caused by the engine running lean, and EGT's higher than normal.

Class dismissed.

Straight back, i could bend the muffler hangers to get it closer to the lip kit, but i think its perfect where it is.
