I got owned by my ABS Rear tonight

It's a great "looking" piece. Other than that, it's a total piece of sheit! My Cattman exhaust burnt through it on the highway, and some lady pulled up beside me and said my bumper was about to fall off.

Damn, how long had you been driving for it to get that hot? My Cattman exhaust is touching my rear lip as well, but no burning yet.......

Do they sell anything to prevent this, maybe some kind of foil to place on the bumper where it's touching?

I really don't know, man. I bought it off an org member and have only had it installed for a couple of weeks. So 175.00 and 10+ hours of driving later, this is what I end up with. Yeepee for me! I'm going to give ABS a call, but I'm not sure how much good that will do me.

I did an 8 hour trip this weekend total in the heat, and it was fine when I got back. I did a 20 min spirited drive last night, and it got fuX0rd. I'm not sure what gives.

There was a little bit of scarring from the past two weeks after install, but it was nothing bad at all.

I think anything to protect the piece would have to be fabricated. I don't think they sell anything specific for it.

Funny though, my fiances AE Rear piece is scarred from her Cattman as well, but that's been like that for a while now, and nothing to this point.

Good thing I saw this thread before purchasing the ABS front and rear lip set on ebay. Stillen is the only way to go now...

Sorry about your dilemma, I guess you're not going to have a rear lip in time for the meet?

Did you use hose clamps for your Cattmang muffler? Because I did and I clamped it too tight that it actually touched my stock bumper line.

The Lip makes the muffler clearance a little tighter so if you do have hose clamps that shiet is gonna touch it for sure. I'm gonna have to take off my hose clamps.

If I don't use hoseclamps on the hangers, my b-pipe knocks really bad for even more ness. That's why it's close. The shape of the lip itself doesn't help either. Looks to be formed a little different than the Stealin one.

Hey,

Could you be running a bit lean? your Exhaust gas temps should not be that hot at the tip. To do that I would assume 200 degrees or more?

I doubt I'm running lean if anything I might be a little rich. I have a VAFC II installed, but untuned so I'm not 100% positive. I did however advance my timing to 17 if that would lean me out then I might be there.

Did you only mount that lip by the two wheel wells? My stillen lip is mounted in with atleast 10 bolts all along the rear bumper with double sided tape. If you did it like that then the piece by the muffler would have melted apart but atleast the whole lip wouldnt have been dragging down the street

If you have an ABS lip why do you have a stillen sticker? Sorry, I had to point that out.

You can purchase some high temp, reflective tape from an autopoarts store for about $7.
