I saw a Pontiac Grand Prix commercial last night (wider is better) and they compared their car to a Maxima GXE. They pointed out all the neat stuff you get standard on the Grand Prix (a carton of Winstons and a Dale Ernhardt #3 should come standard) and how the Maxima doesn't have any of what they mentioned (one was ABS, is that bull, I thought the GXE had ABS?). They at the end the kicker was it was 3300 less than the Max. I see a lot of Maximas on the road so I guess Pontiac was feeling the heat.

I saw this commercial.. of course they show the max with no options and in its base model form.. its their marketing strategy, so whatever..

haha...but then when the tranny falls out of the GP right as the warranty expires there's your $3300, and that's just the tranny. the WHOLE car will start falling apart right after the warranty expires, and that's calculated out by GM too. GM cars are "loss leaders" for repair revenues after the warranty expires.

bwaaahahaha!

Yeah but

I am a 5spd owner and GTP's do not have sticks. In fact no Pontiac Grand Prix has a stick. Its a shame, I was considering but no stick...no purchase. The salesguy thought I was nuts. Asked for a stick shift model, he said N/A, I said thank you for your time and he replied "you won't even consider this car if it does not have a standard shift?" Nope.

Plus the GXE, according to the nissandriven.com has ABS standard. So who knows what GM was smoking....

Evidently the commmercial didn't compare horsepower and performance either.

GM is barking up the wrong tree comparing the Grand Prix to the Maxima. I think that they would do better using a Ford Taurus or Chevy Lumina in their ads.

So what you gotta do with a GM car is to drive it really hard under warrenty in hope that the stuff will break while under warrenty. Then replace it, and when it expires, try to take it easy on it. And you might eat that warrenty.

Maybe they took off the ABS sensor?

No ABS sensor = No ABS

Not ABS - TCS

The Pontiac Commercial referenced Traction Control on the Pontiac and not on the GXE.
They are doing a similar add with a Grand Am vs. a Honda Accord.

I wonder how much boy racer plastic **** is worth?

I saw the commercials and I said, "whatever." Pontiac's are okay for a year or two. The GT is actually just as fast in the 1/4. (Not top end though) The interior totally sucks on the Pontiac. My friend has one and the interior is seriously falling apart.

Yes GXE's have ABS

At least mine does, and it wasn't an option.

Brilliant!

For some weird reason, I get all mad whenever that commercial comes on. Just seems like a low blow geared towards uninformed buyers. GM

Wait A Minute...

What real car driver would consider a Grand *** anyway? Those cars are nasty? Compare a Maxima to a Lumina, Impala, or Taurus... for what? You can barely compare an Accord to a Maxima.

The Maxima is truly a unique car. That commercial was nothing but a waste of money and shameless advertising. They did the same commercial years ago comparing the Honda Civic and Chevy Cavalier.

$3300 lower MSRP came after they replaced the front dash piece with Fisher-price kit...

its call www.clubgp.com, just like clubmaxima.com clublexus.com... you get the point, any why don't supras have supra.org? or F50.org, if they're "GOOD" cars like/better maxima.
and there is 6657 users registed under clubgp and we got 5582.

you're right with a rear axle, we'll never be able to compete with those.maybe we can compare ours with a sunfire since they got a rear axle too.
