Painting Interior Dash Etc
Hey,
I was thinking of changing my color scheme of my maxima inside and wanted to paint my dash and all the interior pieces to a different color, I was wondering what products are needed and what steps are needed to do so.
Thanks

im no expert, but right now im working on painting my center console, the little bit of color on my climate control, my mounting kit, and my center vents with the help of a friend that works at a body shop. But wheres what I believe has to be done for a decent job.
1. need sandpaper to take off all the old paint, going low to high grit.
2. need a sort of base coat (adhesive promoter/primer?)
3. a can of spray paint, color of choice
4. a clear coat of choice
and i believe that is it. Im going to do it this coming saturday afternoon, so I'll let you know what exactly I did in order to do this.

I painted damn near everything in my Max out. Dash, glove, kick panels center console, carpet, pillars. VHT vynal & plastic Dye, can't beat it. It's permanent!
Hardest part is the prep. Lightly sand your plastic pieces clean with water, let dry and then clean with rubbing alcohol. Take your time with prep it's the most important part. Go to a local parts store and pick up a couple of cans of primer or promoter and a clear coat. When you spray your clear though make sure you spray from about a foot away. Do light coats until your satisfied with the coverage. If not it will build up like a milky color and your **** is screwed.

my dash is silver. I got regular paint spray. First I painted it white, which was a like a primer. Then we painted it silver about 3 coats and finally clear 2 times. It came out pretty good and it has been good for the past 2 years.

I'm thinking of doing mine soon, right after I finish my engine cover and grille. What grit sandpaper did you use and how many coats each? xTeCaOx, your painted dash came out really nice.

I was thinking about painting my power windows switch trim and the trim around the shifter, since it is starting to peel. I was wondering what color paint I should buy if I want to maintain the stock color. Any recommendations on the kind of paint I should get?
