Starting issues...

I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima with about 72,000 miles on it. I switched to synthetic(Mobil 1) at about 66,000 miles. I do not race my car, I conduct proper maintenance on it and take care of it overall. When I start the car, it seems to have problems but not on every start. I hear a good start for 2-3 cylinders, then it seems to SLOW down and make a WHINY sound for the next 1-2 cylinders. Then the remaining 2 cylinders start up fine. I do maintain maintenance records and change my spark plugs regularly.

So think of this: You start your car, normal start up for the first 2 cylinders, then MAJOR SLOW DOWN and WHINY sound for the next 1-2 cylinders, then the remaining cylinders start up fine. I do have coils on standby but have not received an SES light. Any ideas would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Are the coil packs the same as the ignition coils? If not, please explain or lead me in the right direction so I can educate myself. Thanks.

The problem was my starter. The mechanic removed my old, busted starter and installed a new starter. The car is now working like a champion.
