Changed my plugs today...

... to find plugs that were way over tightened, and gapped slightly different, with one "special Jimmy" lol.

Don't know who did it, but I would never go back there.

Anyways, I replaced these with NGK TR55's and the car feels a lot better already. I prolly do need to change some coils but I'll see how this goes first. Also I noticed when I was changing plugs that my coils do not have any sticker dots on them? I thought they had stickers from the factory and different colored ones when (if) they were replaced?

I don't know about the stock coils, but the updated ones have the grey dot on them.

Yeah, OhOhMax, save your money and change the plugs yourself. It's not really that hard at all. Just wondering, how did your car run before you put in new ones, especially with that one plug you labeled "special jimmy"? The gap is way off. Just a note, it's a good investment if you have a good quality torque wrench, especially if you work on cars. When I change my plugs, I always torque them to specs. Some people don't, but as you can see, what happens if you overtighten them. As far as the coils, I heard even the more updated ones may not have the grey dots on them. I have the grey dots on mine, but mine were changed about 2 years from the dealership under warranty. Don't change out the coils until they go bad, since they are quite pricey. Some have pin-pointed exactly what plugs are bad when replacing them, and some have just replaced all six at the same time.

Recently changed plugs

I changed my spark plugs last week with NGK's on my 01 that has 85,000 miles on it. This was my first time changing them since I owned the car when I bought it with 70,000 on it. I noticed a huge difference in the response of the car and the car idle's very quietly now. Using a GOOD torque is key and I torqued mine down to 20lbs. I think the recommended torque is anywhere from 14-22lbs. I want to thank the org members who posted write ups on how to do this because it made it alot easier. (especially TANMAN's write up for the 5th generation) Also, don't forget to put some antiseize on the new plugs so they come out nice and easy next time....Even though they are recommended for 100,000 miles. And OhOhmax Did you notice any rough idles with the "special jimmy" spark plug? Thanks again for the write ups

They're painted with a dot.. Not stickers.

I already changed them, I do everything my self. I was just saying that I would never take my car back to whoever did the plugs last time if that was me.
