Most likely not. I for one would rather try to find out what is causing the light to be triggered than simply just try to hope that it goes away. There's obvioulsy something going on with your car that needs to be addressed.

my guess... p0430!! had that for a while, it's been going on and off. from intake of course.. so i say screw...
not that i'm saying yours is p430 as well. get a scanner and read it.. might be something bad that you should replace now before it gets worse in the long run.

Go to autozone, they read codes there for free. See if you can reset it there, and if it comes back, then there is definitely a problem with the car.

Either clear the codes yourself or have the people at Autozone (or any other auto parts place with an OBD scanner) clear them and see if they come back. Obviously, also make sure you note what codes they are.

Make sure your gas cap is tighten properly. If this is what is causing the SES light it will clear itself after a few days of driving. If it doesn't turn off then take the car to autozone.

P1320 ????

Hey Maxima Doctor's

I need help - A week ago my SES light went on. I went to autozone to get a reading and they scanned it with a P1320 - Manufacture Controlled ignition system or misfire. Should I be worried? Is this a big problem? I never had a problem with the maxima - the time the light went on was when I turned the car on and for some reason the car felt like it was going to shut off, but 3 sec.. later it was fine. So i was thinking just like the code said - misfire - ... anybody can help and give me some more information?

Thanks
Rami

Ignition system problem. Primary side. $5 that it's your coils. Bigfatty has an excellent write up. It's linked from his signature.

It's pretty irrevelent, but FYI. All obdII cars check engine light will eventually shut off after IIRC around 40 "cycles" without reoccurance. IIRC the ecu considers a "cycle" a change of temp from around 130 to 170 or somewhere around there.

I was wondering if Bigfatty can assist me with the P1320 - and letting me know in more detail what it is and if I should worry about it or not. I put no more then 3 K miles on it a year.....

Then send him a PM to discuss this or look through previous threads on this. There are at least 5 threads on P1320 and ignition coil issues in the month of July alone.
