New exhaust clip w/video

This is a sound clip of my current exhaust set-up. Hotshot headers, stock cat, cattman b-pipe and frankencar rear section. Let me know what you think and mods please put this in the sticky and check the others for broken links, only a few 3.5L clips work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3ug-9qpv74
Tell me what you guys think. I think I want a little louder, you literally can't hear it at all with the windows down over 2.5k. I'm not sure what I'm going to do but when I rev up high it sounds like the stock cat is starting to fall apart but I am untuned with headers so it could be backfire. I was thinking of maybe getting an aftermarket cat.

I thought that thread was locked and had to be added by a mod, so if a mod could move this I would appreciate it or I'll just copy/paste it in the exhaust thread.
Oh and MyBlue02 I think the org cares more about their donating members more than the leeches like yourself. If you looked closer you would notice I have been a member for a year longer than you and have twice as many posts....tool

I'll add your clip to the first post of the exhaust thread.

Btw, it sounded like you were in an enclosed space, is that right? If so, maybe something out in the open would give a better representation. Also, as already suggested, a fly by or cruising clip would be good, if possible.

I am between two buildings but there is no connecting roof if that makes sense. I'll do a drive by and post in a few days. I have steven88's b-pipe haha how funny is that. I saw steven's clips from a few months ago, he was running with a test pipe right? Like I was saying earlier I want it a little louder I'm considering selling the frankencar rear then buying a magnaflow muffler and having a shop w/ a mandrel bender make a custom rear section.

yeah i have a test pipe...it might make it a little raspier...but if you really want it to sound good...the muffler is what really determines how the final outcome will be...cattman will be LOUD when paired up to headers...it sounds REALLY nice, but its just too loud, after daily driving it for almost 9 months

The videos when you are backfiring, are you without a tune? I'm running rich as hell now too but I plan on tuning soon. JW. I'm thinking of getting a test pipe or high flow cat with my current setup and see how I like it. I would hate it if I changed things and didn't like it. Especially if I get rid of the frankencar they are getting hard to come by.

yeah on that video, i was without a tune...i say you get a test pipe over a high flow cat...unless you really wanna keep it street legal...for one, a test pipe is only $30 versus a high flow cat for like $150...and two, the gains from a test pipe would be better than a high flow cat (minimal, but worth the big price difference)

Did you have a check engine light with a test pipe? Yes they are cheap, which is another reason to consider using one.

nope...o2 simulator for the win!! yeah, it is another $30 to get the simulator...but then u will never have to worry about your o2 sensors again...the simulator has a lifetime warranty...and o2 sensors cost about $100 from daveb...i already got my simulator replaced under warranty...man, talk about FAST service from www.o2sim.com ...it's amazing how quick they sent me a replacement...i e-mailed them friday...and received my unit wednesday...the original unit crapped out on me after 10 months of usage...not too shabby...if this one fails again in 10 months, it only takes like 15 minutes to swap it in

oh btw, even if you extend the o2 sensor wires all the way behind the main cat, you can still throw a SES code becuz the wiring is waaay too long...so i would say just play it safe, and get an o2 sim...

Hey, just posting because I can't start a thread anywhere. Just signed for my car today, and I pick her up tomorrow!

I am coming from a Classic Nissan Sentra SE-R, but familial responsibilities (new baby) demanded a larger vehicle and a sedan preferrably, and the 2K2 Max is perfect for the job, even though I do also own a large SUV.

I have a Gray Lustre 2K2 6-speed, already lowered, with intake/exhaust. I'll post pics and clips of the exhaust in here...since I am not allowed to start new threads.

Congrats on the purchase.

Just so that maxspeedse02's thread isn't completely whored up, you should post your pics on the Picture Thread and your exhaust clips in the Exhaust sticky, both of which are in the Stickies at the top of the forum page.

Let me just tell you from my experience, before you sell your Frankencar, just drive around with the new set-up for a few days until you are sure that you like it. I'm almost positive there is no middle ground here, you're gonna go from nice and quiet to really loud, even with a well resonated b-pipe. This is why so many people with headers have dumped their straight through mufflers for stock or Frankencars. Heck, hold on to the Frankencar if possible. The Frankencars are extremely hard to come by these days if you decide to go back to it, I'm sure you already know that.

if you want a little louder, i'm not sure what to tell ya...there really isn't anything I can think of that will make your car a "little" louder....Greddy EVO, Cattman, & HKS will all make your car louder...MUCH louder...I'm not totally sure on that magnaflow...but I'm willing to bet it will make it much louder as well...

your best bet is to get a test pipe and see how it sounds from there...i'm sure it will increase the sound level to your likings...

haha its just a joke...

dry carbon = real expensive and is actually "strong"

most cf on the market = just a sheet of cf with fiberglass body...usually weak

I havent heard a magnaflow on a maxima in person but they do sound really good, they are pretty quiet in the low rpm range but when you get up top they really sound the best, this is on my friends 77 montecarlo though.. :/ so i dunno im probably comparing apples and oranges.

The 02 cars don't have a sensor after the main cat. You'll be fine with the simulator you already have.

Sounds really nice BTW.

Sounds really deep and mean. Very nice.

I just had a quick question regarding exhaust setup. Currently I just have Hotshot Headers and stock catback. I wanted to change the b-pipe soon. Will this cause more noise in the cabin? Will adding a frankencar catback add a lot more noise? I could not find an exhaust vid of just Headers and a b-pipe. I just want a nice sound but not too loud, if possible. Thanks.

This setup sounded really good.

It'll sound like Steven88's or Upstatemax's set-ups.
