gring third gear....

gring third gear....

when i downshift and put it into third gear it grinds a lil bit for a second then goes into 3rd. but it doesnt grind at all when i shift from second to third. what could be the problem..???

i believe your synchros are starting to go out...have you tried switching to redline mt-90 fluid? some have reported a smoother 3rd gear after installing that magical fluid...

i have it in my transmission...it shifts wonderfully and never grinds!

I don't grind gears, but my axle bearing is starting to go.

Even after MT-90. ugh. that means AE 5-speed!

Word on the street is that the A33B 6MT has problematic/weak syncros, which is why people get that grinding in 3rd. Derrick2k2SE had a thread here some time back where he mentioned that before replacing his tranny with an A34 6MT.

Obviously, this is either a last resort or if you really want the different gearing of the A34 tranny. See if Nissan will help you diagnose/fix your issue first.
