Rear Axle
Rear Axle
Anyone know of a good place to find a rear axle? I seem to have bent mine slightly...
I dont know of any good salvage yards in my area, and the best I have found online is $490 w/o shipping.
Any suggestions are great.
Oh, and anyone remove their rear axle recently? Anything I should look out for?

Here's my write-up on replacing the Rear Trailing Arm Bushings with Energy Suspension Bushings that Polo is kindly hosting for me. I did this about 1 1/2 years ago. In it, there are instructions on how to remove the entire rear axle. Since your replacing your rear axle, you might give Cattman a call to get the ES Rear Trailing Arm Bushings to replace the OEM rubber ones if you have the time. If you have all the tools, it should take 1 to 2 days to do this. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the link.
Looks like Im going to have a bit more work as well. Ill have to remove the hub assy. from the rear axle as well, because I dont plan on replacing all of that as well.
Good thing is, I wont have to mess with the bushings as I imagine the new axle will have the factory bushings already pressed in.... I hope.
Seems like I have some work ahead of me.
