Splash Guard-Passenger Side

I have a 2003 Max SE that developed a rubbing sound out of the passenger side when I turned the wheel all the way to the left. Over the weekend I jacked up the car and pulled the wheel to find out that the splash guard on the passenger side was apparently busted and a large chunk of it was still attached to the car inside the wheel well. It appears that this guard is actually a lower motor splash guard that covers the oil filter and the crankshaft pulley. Do I need to replace this guard, since it covers the lower part of the motor, including the oil filter and pulley? It appears to keep water out of the engine compartment from inside the passenger side wheel well.

Anyone have this problem? Any idea how much this cover might cost? Do you suspect it will get broken again when I have my next oil change done?

I would replace it. It shouldn't be to expensive. I think the chances of it breaking again are rare. I suspect you took it to a shop to have your oil changed. Most likely was damaged then or the screws/bolts were not all returned.

Replace it...

You don't need road grime all over moving motor parts.
