MAF Replaced Last month. Update...

My girlfriends 2000 GXE was barely drivable back in June, so I decided to replace the MAF since it fit the symptoms others had... wow, what a difference. Shortly after I changed mine in my 02, and noticed the car was revived! Power all the way to WOT, and motor running smoother than ever!

Well its been about a month and a half since I threw in the New MAF sensor. The first month with the new MAF was great, but I started to notice that the old symptoms started to come back. The power and smooth ride I had are now gone and I'm just wondering if the new MAF has also messed up on me. Last weekend, I lost to another 02 max from a light because my car simply did not move. When I try to accelerate more it feels like the car kicks back for a second instead of forward.

Has anyone else have this happen so soon after replacing their MAF? I can't imagine that the sensor has gone bad so soon. Any Ideas what I can do about this. I was thinking of cleaning the sensor?

Thanks. (hope this isn't a repost)

Your car shour definitely move, and chirp/shred tires at that. Given the dodgy track record of Nissan MAFs , a second failure is entirely possible, especially with an aftermarket intake.

Mine did the same thing and I have a K&N filter in mine- what I decided to do is go back to stock filter and replace the MAF again. From what I have read, K&N filters are "oily" straight from the factory. Im hoping this works for the time being until I get my cold air intake and even then, im spending the cash to get an apexi filter since the MAF's are so "sensitive"

I am a newb though - so you dont have to take my word for it.

you could try checking the sensor, see if it is noticeably dirty and try cleaning it if it is... Did you have an aftermarket intake?

I have an Apexi filter and I have not yet done the reflash/reprogram. I'd hate to go back to the stock air filter since I dont even have the stock parts anymore...
