When Replacing Your Calipers, Rotors..............

And brake pads, do I need to replace the breaking hose? And braking fluid? I took off everything. Just need to get some good rotors, brake pads (hawks I know) and a caliper. Do I need a new braking hose and fluid?

If your existing lines are in good shape you will not need to replace those. In regards to brake fluid. There are increments at which you should replace the fluid. It is not needed each time you replace brake components.

Replace your brake hoses if they are cracked/leaking. Each time you rotate your tires, they should be checked for breakage.

switch up the hose with some steel ones - should get you better braking.

How can you tell that you need new brake hoses? I'm not going to spend extra $ when I don't have to.

just check for cracking in the lines....

as for changing the fluid...if you're changing your calipers you have to bleed the brakes, because you need to get fluid into the caliper...

just get a regular DOT 3 fluid...You can also go DOT 4, but that's mainly for performance reasons, because it has a higher boiling point....just go to an autoparts store and pick one out.

No real benefits for day to day driving, although they would take away one more thing to worry about.

Is there a how-to besides the changing rotors/pads threads on how to bleed your brakes? I already searched and checked the FAQs. Thanks.

I'd like to see a how-to on how to properly flush the entire system and replace, then bleed.

i've bled brakes b4. can't really do a whole write-up, but one thing, get a friend to help you out. one of you will pump the brake pedal while the other will open/close the bleed screw.

You can do the two-man method of bleeding brakes or you can also buy one of those pressure bleeders, albeit it needs some expertise to use.

As with SS braided lines, it's not something you don't have to worry about. The teflon inside could still break and although it seems like a good idea not to worry because it's SS, the danger is still there.

Altogether, brake lines and all components related should be checked every pad/rotor change and tire rotation.

I recommend going with Goodridge stainless steel brake lines. The quality of their lines is really nice. The only problem is finding a good lead-time on them...

Guys there are a ton of threads on bleeding brakes and if you are unable to find a useful one on the .Org...here you go (which took 2 seconds to find on the web).

No sweat. Those are two pretty descriptive ones, so you should be fine going off either.
