I know about the ghetto lip - it's the same as the one the subaru guys use....garage door bottom seal, FTW!(I tried to make one of these, but it looked terrible so I never put it on)
let's do away with the "rubber scraper" term and refer to it as "air dam" or "underbody aerodynamics"

good job Josh, always thinking of something new.

vq356sp - I got the fasteners from DaveB. They are the "big" splashguard fasteners (there are also "small" ones). You can get them from any dealer, and they're about $1 each.

I'd be lying if I said I did this for performance. I did it for looks primarily (I know, shocker!)
That said, the performance benefits of a lower air dam are well-known in the road racing community. By smoothing the airflow over the bottom of the car (and consequently not having the air take multiple turns over/around the transmission, oil pan, control arms, etc) at high speeds there are two advantages: reduced drag and increased downforce. Obviously these conditions will not really be apparent on the street (or an autocross course), but they could affect performance on a high-speed road course where speeds can exceed 100mph often.
Again though....even though the theory is sound, it is not why I did this "mod." Even I have to do some cosmetic stuff sometimes

smoothing the air under the car decreases lift at high speeds. Take a look at alot of more exotic cars (and even some econo-sedans) and see how smooth the floorboards and underbody paneling is.....but don't take my word for it, I'm only working on my Master's in engineering at MIT, that's all......
but like I said, that kind of aerotuning only comes into play at excessively high speeds (100+ mph at least), not at normal driving speeds.

. I consider it more
when your car is as stock and boring as that old man driving down the street

IMO, if it's for functionality I give it thumbs-up. Looks wise, I'm not feeling it too much. Reminds me of the Regal I owned that was white and had one of those lips in black plastic at the front and it was always a sour part of the front as it really stood out against white and looked cheap (something like that G35 S). IMO, it somewhat distrurbs the flow of the car but on your black car it does somewhat hide itself and does not stand out as much as did on my white. I would have gone with an actual lip or 5.5 bumper cover, but we all have different taste
for the idea though
