stupid but quick question... do you think this will improve gas mileage on the freeway? Reason I ask this is because I took off my side skirts and front lip because I moved and the driveway is steep. I have noticed that my tank has been a little bit worse from obtaining 380 miles to 350 miles. (30 miles over a 15 gallon tank is a 2mpg decrease which is a lot when it comes to mpg). Do you think the lip has such of an effect that it will effect gas mileage?

in theory it *could* but I'm not betting on it to any noticeable extent....

hey irish... my dealership only had the small pop fasteners in stock... so I got those. Do you think those will hold up just as well? I don't think it will be a problem... but I just wanted your opinion.

I saw that a few weeks ago, I thought it looked pretty good on the P11. Its ok on the 5th gen due to the corners not lining up, other than that its a nice low key addition.

Irish, still running the Taurus splitter thing? I think it can see it in one of the pix. If so, you probably dont need it anymore.
Hey, that's my car! And, I stole the idea off of some Sentra forum somewhere...

I used a couple of the small ones when I was running short on the big ones. They fit, but I don't think they go through very far, so I'm not sure how well they would hold by themselves. Call DaveB and he has the big ones.

I can't really tell from the pictures... but it looks like you didn't use the holes that ford put in the lip... why? Or am I not seeing right? I know that the fasteners that I plan on using seem to fit pretty good in the pre-drilled holes... so I should just be able to drill into the bumper with the existing lip holes... right? Also... how thick is the bumper down there? I am at work right now.... or else I'd check.

The lip only has 3 Ford holes in it...that's all!! And they are oblong, so I'd be worried about the lip sliding 2cm right or left over time. I put in like 10 of the fasteners....it's ON there. You need to drill for fasteners at locations where it looks like you will need to hold the lip, since our front end is not exactly the same shape as the ford, so you'll have to flex the lip some...

The bottom of the bumper lip is maybe 5mm thick

wierd...yeah mine had 3 holes and came with 3 ford plastic clips to hold it on. I've seen on the Mustang forums that some guys have complained that they have to add "extra" clips to keep it secure

I guess they fixed the problem and you got a "new" one

Ok... I ran to the dealership and picked up the clips like what you have... so as soon as I get off work... I'll be set to put this thing on! As long as things go smoothly.. I'll try to get pics up of my dirty a$$ car.

Well.. I finally got it done. I really like it... and installation was a snap. Just cut the ends off and drill holes in the bumper.. let the Nissan fasteners do the rest. Now all I have to do is find time to clean my car.. and I can take some better pics... Thanks Irish... for this great idea. Here are the pics.

Sometime I'll get around to trimming up where it meets at the wheelwell a little bit better.

Phew, thought it was just me who had the front facia that looks like a bunch of backwoods hillbillies peppered it with a 12 gauge.
Nice looking lower lip though! Some people are just to creative.

u think would work on a 5.5? i know our bumpers are slightly different down there.. im gonna check it out.. i like it

for some reason, jd's lip looks like it extends lower from the bumper than Irish's.. almost as if it is more noticeable on jd's. i was lookin at the mach 1 lips on ebay and they have 2 listed.. one for 99 - 04 and another listed for 03 - 04. which one did u get irish? and which one did u get jd? and where exactly did u guys buy urs from?

I got mine from the dealership because I had a parts credit. I didn't keep the part number though... but I remember I just asked for the 2003 Mach 1 chin spoiler.

As you said... I also think that mind is a little more noticeable. I think I bolted mine up further than irish did... because he said that he cut 3-4 inches off each end... and I know that I only cut off about 2. Actually... there was a screw on each side very close to the wheelwell... and I took those screws out, used one of the existing holes in the mach 1 spoiler, and screwed it on that way... then drilled the rest of the holes. I hope you can make sense of that lol.

LOOKS GOOD MAN!! But i think it would look SO much better with it closer to the ground and a smaller wheel gap(lowering technology needed) IMO..
