Memory Seats

Okay guys, I have searched the site and the FAQ and could not find a topic regarding my problem. I may not have searched with the correct wording?

My 2002 SE Max has two memory settings for the driver seat, since owning the car I have never needed these as I was the only driver of the vehicle. My wife will be driving the car now and I tried with no success to setup the memory. I also noticed that the auto switch for the driver seat which worked when I first bought the car is not functioning. I set this to cancel soon after purchasing the car and only enabled it this past weekend to notice it no longer works. I followed the directions in the owners manual for storing the settings into memory but the settings are not being retained. The lights flash like it's taking my settings but it's not working. I wonder if the memory not storing and the auto switch are related? The seat adjustments works perferctly otherwise, just wont store my memory settings.

Is there a fuse possibly blown related to the auto seat? Am I missing a step in the owners manual? As always, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You must put the switch to auto. The seats won't work on cancel.
So put the switch to then program the seats. I have a 6 speed and on manual tranny cars the seats only work when the emergency brake is on.

I tried to store the memory with the switch on auto, that's when I noticed the auto function is not working. I will try again tonight and see if I can get the auto function to work......Thanks.

I think the auto function is for automatic tranny cars. I think it moves the seat back when you enter the car. Is your car manual or automatic

Mine is an auto. When I first bought the car the auto switch worked, but I selected cancel becasue I did not like the seat moving when I switched off or started the car. I have not done anything to my car, it's as stock as the day it left the factory....well with the exception of a hidden hitch, but I don't have it wired for lights as I only use it for my hitch bike rack.

I give up, I can't get the auto switch to work for the driver seat so it does not look like I will be able to get the memory buttons to work either. Not sure why the auto stopped working?

you can only use the memory settings only if the car is in park. if its an auto, does the seat go back when the switch is on auto and the key is taken out?

Yea, had the car in park and even set the emergency brake even though it's an auto.
Nope, the seat does not go back when the key is taken out.

Check out your owners manual, it explains it better. I have had my seat stop working after I put it to cancel and then back to auto, but all i did was leave the key in the ACC position with the engine off and flipped the switch back and forth. But of course I have my memory seats programmed (with two seat posistions I like hehe) but I dont know if that makes a differeance.

I don't think the auto/cancel switch has anything to do with your memory function not saving. I leave mine on cancel and I can still set and recall the seat positions. If I remember correctly, I didn't even have to have it in park. I could set/recall setting in gear or in neutral, as long as I was stopped and was pressing on the brake pedal.

Manual tranny cars don't allow you to do that. I have to pull up my emergency brake to use the memory seats.......I am surprised nissan allows you use the memory seats in autos while the car is in gear, regardless of your foot being on the brake
