SE 23mm FSB vs. GXE/GLE 22mm FSB

As it is stated in my info, i crurrently have a GXE model. I've kbnownb tghat GXE/GLE anbd SE hgave different swaybars (front), yet I have never reallyt had a chance to compare handling characteristics of an SE vs. GLE/GXE. Using simple math, I determined that SE swaybar is 9.2% stiffer than a GLE/GXE swaybar (assuming that they are made of the same kind of metal with same spring rate).

My question is, is it worth changing out the stock GXE swaybar for an SE one considering 9.2% improvement in stiffness in the front and that whole kit (with ES brushings) will cost about $70?

The car is ocassionally used for road racing.

I wish I could tell you better, but I do feel like my SE is a little tighter on turn in then my friend's GLE. I'd say the choice to try it or not would be how cheap can you get a SE swaybar.

It depends on how stiff your springs are. It might worth it for someone with OEM springs, but I doubt it will make any difference on your car... (IIRC you got TEIN SS)

Thats exactly what he should do. The SE springs are much stiffer the GLE/GXE and that would make the most difference in handling. Not really the front swaybar.

Do any companies make aftermarket swaybars for the front? Besides struts/springs, it seems the big suspension mods are FSTB, RSTB and RSB, havent heard much abut the front.

I was trying to recall how my car felt when it was all stock compared to my friends stock GLE. But the springs will make more of a difference to feel than a swaybar will. I'd def. reccomend doing the SE or other spring upgrade first before worrying about the bigger bar.

The thread starter actually already has coilovers... post #8. Or maybe you were just addressing things in general.

It doesn't matter how much body roll you have, if that 9% difference in sway bar stiffness will increase your total roll resistance by, for instance, 1% you will not see any difference in the way your car handles.

BTW, how much did you lower your car? Lowering the car too much could also cause excessive body roll...

it is lowered to TEIN Maxima specific recommendations, which is about -2.7" in front and about about -2" in the back. I am currently set to 16/16 (softest setting) only because i go to school and work everyday now and to tell you the truth it handles a LOT better than when i was set to 6/7.

I just want to figure out if a new 23mm SE swaybar is something worth installing. It is damn lot of work, and i do not want to end up doing that much work for almost nothing...

My other alternative is just gettinbg ES bushings and new swaybar links... all accompanied by BlehmCo Stage II LTB.

If you have time, and if you car is not cornerbalanced, try raising the front back to what would be 1.8 - 2.0" drop and see if you like it. I got mine set to approx 1.8 in the front and 1.6 in the rear. The springs are 8f 6r, no preload, and although I wouldn't mind some more roll resistance, I am quite happy with this setup. I am also confident doing more or less what the car is capable of at speeds up to 110-115 mph. Before I installed coilovers this barrier was something like 60 mph.

I'd go with the other alternative

True, that probably will handle better, but if you saw my 19" rim with -2.7" drop, you'd prolly start drooling...
