To those that have replaced GXE/GLE taillamps w/SE's
Was wondering how difficult it was to remove the GXE/GLE taillamps. I know that there is some type of seal to heat up and remove...but then you have to replace it with a new seal. Do you have to buy the seal seperately or does it come with the new taillamps?
I didn't really like the look of the SE's taillamps at first. But the more I see them the more I like them. It is kind of like a "slap in the face" to the Altezza style...I like that thought.
Any problems anyone ran into while doing this mod would be appreciated.

Park the car's rear end towards the sun so it picks up heat while you are doing this.
1. Pop the truck
2. Remove the truck "plate". The plastic piece around the latch
3. pull the interior pieces forward.
4. Remove the bolts (i believe they are 10mm), 6 of them.
5. Twist the bulbs out of the lens and remove the wires.
6. Now you're ready to push the taillamps out of the "frame"...if it's warm enough (i did mine at the end of a Vegas summer) the lens should slide out, with some effort. Push on the bolts that hold it against the bracket and move in cross sections. keep prying until you can get a few fingers on the outside of the lens to pull it out.
When you reinstall the SE taillamps, make sure you wrap the sealant around the outer edges of the housing (when you see the old housing vs. the new, you'll know what i'm talking about) a few times (twice). This stuff is sticky so, you only get one shot at it, otherwise, you'll be making a mess.
When you tighten it back down...try to get the outside of the housing to line up with the bumper and rear quarter panel...but, be careful to not over tighten or you'll flood your trunk.
Good luck...

They improve the looks of the rear of the car 10 fold.
