16s on a 5.5gen?

16s on a 5.5gen?
I'm about to get some SSRs for my 2k2, but they're 16s. Does anybody have a 2k2 or up with 16s?
I know 5th gens can definitly run 16s, you know, since they're stock and all, but I checked the OEM tire size diameter at 215-55-16s, and it's a 2.1% difference from the 5.5 stock 255-50-17. Anybody know the reason for this?
I figure I would use 225-55-16s, it would only be a 0.5% difference. I dunno if theres a problem with this.

dunno why early models came with 16 inch wheels @ that tire size...but to answer your question, yes a 225/55/16 would be a nice setup on your 5.5...running 215/55/16 wouldn't so bad either...it's only 1.3mph off @ 60mph...barely any difference...i think at 120mph, you are only a whopping 2.6mph off from stock?
