Resonators

I was reading about all the pros/cons of different intakes, no this is not going to be a thread about which intake is better. While reading some threads, I noticed people remove there resonators? Where are these resonators located at? I am looking for pics if you got them. I searched the How-To Stickies along with the How-To's on VQpower.com, but with no luck. I'm looking a deep intake sound, kinda like how a GAB sounds. I did try the GAB mod but my dumbarse can't get the dang coat hanger to hold the filter in right.

Helmholtz resonation is what our particular design is called.

Have you removed this on yours? If so, does it make the intake louder?

Are you saying that Helmholtz resonation is used in our cars to deaden intake sound or to improve intake performance?

Also, is HR the purpose of the large white plastic container that is connected to the bottom of the air hose coming in off the intake funnel at the front of the car?

Both, but mainly to utilize mid range power as Z33's do not have this, and my dynos have shown to add a bit extra after 6k RPM w/o it, but a slight non linear curve below that RPM, whereas with it, the curve is very linear and stable.

And I'm quite sure it's only place is in between the MAF and TB.

Does anyone have pics of exactly where this resonator is on a VQ30?

I just read through the "coil pack cover" thread and found my resonator answers there. Just read between the flames and you'll find what you need to know.

That thread just convinced me to stick with the stock air box + K&N for my auto 2k.

As stated the Helmholtz ddeadens sound & improves low-midrange response. The white container (black on 4th gens)is there to collect water & debris. It does not reduce noise nor improve performance, at least during my tests.
