MSRP for a new 2001 Maxima SE (manual) is $24K and change. How much is the new 3.5L and the 6 speed worth to you?. How much would you pay over the current Max to get the 2002 goodies?. Mental Masturbation until we get offical prices.

Not enough... The 2002 looks really tempting, but I think I would be better off sticking with my 2k1 and making some 'changes' Seeing that a reasonably loaded SE goes for over $27000 now, I'm guessing it will be over $30k in 2002. I'm not good at guessing car prices, but I'd say appraoching low end BMWs

Are you sure the MSRP (suggested retail price) of a 2k1 AE 5pd is only $24,000US? I thought that was the street/market price these days? I would be looking at the $30K range for the 2K2 IMO with comprable options. Your right though it will be interesting to see how Nissan prices their fleet this fall.

Start with a GXE
They all get wheels, and the comfort & Conv package. How much does that go for now?

I imagine a fully loaded SE with a Nav will sticker for around $35 large.

A base GXE - will probably start at $24 large.

I highly doubt I'd pay 35k for the 2002. My 2000 SE was 24000. One might as well get an IS300 that's stick for that price. Might not have the navagation though, but you'd never have to worry about customer service again... only if Nissan had the customer service that Lexus has... heh, that'll never happen. oh well, I love my car and I'm not gonna be trading it in.

I can't see that they would risk pushing the price of the '02 towards the $30K level. At this price point they would be competing against Acura, Lexus and their own Infiniti line. I think they'd then have to push the I35 to around $35K. I'm hoping SE w/ 6SP MT starting at around $25K-$26K, but that's more wishful thinking than anything.

Excellent question! I think with the addition of the "02" Altima the "02" Max will be a hard sell even though it is an exceptional machine but why pay more if you can get a comparably equipped vehicle for much less, but to get back to your question I think it will around $32,000 max.

Here's my guess:

The 2001 SE with C & C is $26,188. The AE is $27,500-$31,00. Since the 2002 will have HID, 6 speeds, and few other new standard items, I expect it to sticker around $28,000-$29,000. (With an one option package)

Oh ok. In Canada the 2K1 SE AE has only two options avail.. auto tran and/or 6 disk. Otherwise it is fully loaded with nice rims climate control etc... I didn't realize you could get a 2K1 SE/AE stripped down in the USA?

A base SE 5spd can be easily had for about $21.5K (including destination). That shows Nissan aimed too high with the MSRP. Maybe the 2002 model will have a more realistic MSRP.

$21.5K is an awesome deal for this car! I paid $22,000US (CDN equivalent) for my 2K1 fully loaded.

I payed $24,000 befor taxes for my Max SE w/ C&C. Sticker price is $27,000. When cars frist come out they sell for almost sticker. i'd say a decentlley loaded Maxwill be about 28,5000 but fully loaded SE, my dealer told me $32,5000. ALMOST $35,000 AFTER TAXES!!!??? that is sick. I LOVE my car, and Maximas are great but not for $35,000. I'll get an LS300 just off a 2 year lease for a few extra bucks

What are we paying for anyway (besides more horses which is ncie)- an ugly front bumber, disgustingly ricy looking tails that have orange in them , 6 speed (dont care cause i dont drive stick) and an HID set up? Buy the H4 bulbs for $15-$30 a pair and you will get the same effect. DO what i did (my dad too), go get a 2001 SE RIGHT Now! (Good luck finding black, we found 2 but that was over a 3 week period all over NY, NJ and CT)

Helical LSD with that 6 speed. Navigation. A few luxury items (auto-dim mirror, memory seats, etc.).

As far as H4s = HID, NO WAY. Lots of people have had PIAA or whatever other aftermarket bulbs and there is a HUGE difference.

Being a stick driver stuck in an auto car, the 6spd has me drooling. Most everything else is optional to me but I want the HIDs badly too.

Not the Maxima. I got my 2k Maxima SE when it first came out in the Summer of 1999 and got it for $300 above invoice. I paid roughly as much as you did for my SE with auto and C&C.

Did the upgraded rims not come with the C&C package in 2000?

Are you talking about the 17" wheels?. Those were late availability for the SE. Mine has the 16" found on the GLE.

Hope not near $30,000

If the new Maxima is going to be around $30K, might consider also looking at the IS300, Altima V6, TL-S, and Infiniti. That's a lot more dough than before. The Altima will have 20 less ponies, brand new look, and probably $4000 less.

The MSRP probably won't change at all, you just won't be able to get any discounts. That's how the Acura TL's are sold.

Hey dont compare our nissan salesemen vs acura salesmen. Ours are,(most anyways) misinformed, and or uninformed. Acuras are dull, snotty, dry personality salesmen.

I don't know why people keep thinking "oh my gosh, it's got all this new equipment, bigger engine, etc., it's going to cost more". Just study the history of Nissan/Infiniti model introductions and you will understand that prices generally remain unchanged, and sometimes even go down when new models come out. I bet the new model will cost the same or less to produce than the old one. Technology keeps getting better and cheaper. Nissan is using one engine for a slew of models. They are constantly finding ways to save money. Take the electrochromatic rearview mirrors. Those used to cost a fortune. Now you can buy them yourself for $99. Imagine how cheap Nissan gets them for. Nissan used to color-match the mirrors to the interior, starting with 2001 all EC mirrors are black. Little things like that save a lot of money.

It stands for Comfort and Convenience. On the GXE, you get 16" rims, power driver seat, CD player, and a few other things. Almost every maxima has this package included already. Check your sticker.
