Just Turned 100k this weekend!

I even took a pic of the occasion!

....and i was thinking on starting my mods ( i had the 100k extnd warranty) I'd like to start with rims. should i go with 18s or 19s? they have 2 i like at tirerack and one are these nice SSR rims that are on closeout special! (well, either the SSR GT7-H 19s or the Rial Nogaro 18s [19s for the Rial are $40 more])

Also, 2 more questions. I was offered a decent deal on Koni adjustable shocks, but i heard alot about the Tokico adjustables. Also, whats the deal with the Koni FSDs?

okay, the last one. I'm looking at springs, and I'm trying to decide between Eibach and H&R. I'm leaning on the H&R because of how they are supposed to be a progressive design where it firms up on higher compression. Then again they might both do that and im splitting hairs.

Any personal opinions will be nice but legitimate information most helpful

1. The SSR's are a GREAT deal. A guy at work just got the same tirerack deal on them for his 350Z. I would get them in 18" maximum. 19's are counterproductive to the reduced weight of the SSR's

2. Konis are excellent struts, but for the Maxima they are cartidges and involve a good bit of work to install using your OEM strut housing. Tokico Illuminas are excellent (and adjustable also).

3. Both springs are very good quality. Both are progressive. I prefer the Eibachs because they are a little bit sportier (the ride is a bit firmer, but still comfortable) and the drop is more "even". You can't go wrong with either, but I would lean toward the Eibachs, personally.

Sorry I can't answer your questions but....
Congratulation on the milage. I bought a brand new 03 Maxima SE in December of 2002 fully loaded. I now have 131 K on it. Car runs & looks like NEW bro. You should see it to believe it. I have 18' Kyowa Rarcing rims & tires hawk pads, powerslot rotors which I installed all recenlty.
Without a doubt 03 Maxima was the best yet. Awesome car, and I'm not saying it because I have one. I love my baby.

I would reccomend checkin things like coils, plugs, motor mounts, maf, and things that commonly go out on our cars before you mod scince you no longer have a warantee. After that then mod it

LOL.

Thanks all for the congrats! I mentioned it to some of my family and i got at least 2 saying "Dayum" and my mother said she didn't want to hear about it lol. Yeah, i know im not the most milage on the org for an 03, but i got my baby in april of 03 so i coulda had an 04 at that point, but i liked the design better, and killer financing deals. Anyway, At about 94k i had the 90k maintenance done so im all clear for plugs, coils, MAF, and such. I plan to get a tranny flush and the once-over at around 120k, and im well on my way (over 100,500 tonight).

Thanks for the advice Irish. I do like the idea of more even leveling and I already had my cousin swearing by the Eibachs. Then again he had a 2k mustang, so i wasn't going to live by his testimony. The thing with the SSRs is that the best deal are the 19x8s (tirerack.com $200ea.) and at least according to their listing, gives me more options for tires. I don't suppose anyone would mind me riding the 19s, but im still a bit hestitant for the sake of ride harshness. Then again i can tune a little bit of that out with the springs and adjustable shocks. Heh, kind of counter nature of getting rims, springs, and shocks isn't it? I'm a tough guy to satisfy because i want as much handling as possible with the least sacrifice to ride quality.

Here's what i think I'll do::

SSR GT7-H 19x8 (Silver w/ Machined Lip)
[BTW I think i created a buy rush on this lol they suddenly went to low stock since I started this thread!]

Tokico Illuminas
Eibach Prokit Springs

they have a good deal on Bridgestone RE050As Rubber, but im wondering if i should buy the rims seperate and let'em sit til i get cash for the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 (won the C&D Tire shootout against alot of other rubber) or I've always been partial to Michelins. Maybe just get Pilot Sport A/Ss again... Any comments on rubber?

wow, and I thought my car had high milage. I bought my car early 2004 with 26k miles on it. Now my car has 63k miles.

As far a wheels order some Enkie Evo5 since I liked the 5 spoke design. For tires I went with Toyo Proxes 4 since it was highly recomened in the tire section.

For suspension I went with H-Tech, and I just received the Tokico Illuminas. I have not had a chance to install the Illuminas due to the rain this weekend.

Wow people in here love to drive there 02 and 03's with that much mileage on some, and most have not or had very little major problems which is great! I'm only at 49,700 purchased in Jan 03 but I have my old 89 Maxima and my wifes 05 G35, she's already at 27,000 and its barely over a year old.

I Actually popped into Busam Nissan in Cincinnati, OH (family lives in area) and got to test drive an 07 and an 06. the CVT is freakin' weird, but i liked the 07 alot more than an 06 the sales manager said "he'd make me a happy man" if i got one in trade for my 03. WTF? an 03 with a 100k on the ODO and he "WANTS MY CAR" ? at this point, I think I'll hold onto it a bit longer, and Pick up a Black or Silver 07 if i win the Lotto. Bottom Line is I really do love this car. It's not perfect, but I really can't find Anything that just feels right like this car does. Even with the ding in the door, this car just looks sharp, It's not autonomous looking but it doesnt scream "look at me!" So, I went over and bought a new key fob. Yup, gotta keep this car around til the new fob runs out of battery juice. I'll Take pics again at 200k

P.S.- Anyone got 19s post Pics? i wanna see how close they are in the wells, and tell me if you're lowered.

If your car still moving, then it's a good thing.

Hey Maxim(a)SerjVQ just wanted to mention something about the springs. If you want a better looking drop (more even) drop go with Eibachs. If you like more confort and doesn't realy care much about the look then go with H&Rs. H&R drop won't be even from both sides, the front will be higher by 1/2" than the rear. Both springs handle awsome though.
