Are 4th gen & 5th gen catalytic convertors interchangable?

Does anyone know of the vq30dek 5th gen main catalytic convertor is interchangable with the 4th gen cat?

Measure it and that should tell you. Most Nissan cats are the same length and bolt pattern. I would think the 3.0l would have the same ones.

I was inquiring as I had a high flow cat on my 5th gen and I was considering selling it to a 4th gen owner. However I have compared my old 4th gen test pipe to the high flow and it seems to be about the same length so in theory it should work. The problem here is that the high flow cat actually has no flanges and it works with clamps instead, where as an actual oem cat has flanges that are set on different angles from each other. So either way, I am not looking at a plug and play situation here on a 4th gen....flanges must be welded, vice-versa.

oem cat can be sawpped over. dont know about aftermarket units

the answer is yes.

95-01 is interchangable.
