...that our rims were clearcoated. Ive probably already ruined them. Ive used the turtlewax spray foam and the meguiars wheel cleaners already, and im sure the turtlewax spray probably damaged them. what should i use instead? a local parts store carries something called P21S that says its safe to use and its not expensive either. ?

The P21S should be fine. Most wheel cleaner specific products are not designed to be used on clear coat finishes.

I stick to car soap and water. Then, I wax the wheels. It makes cleaning them really easy afterwards

Try www.griotsgarage.com and buy their rim cleaner, endorsed by BBS and is by far the easiest I have ever used, no harmful solvents either. They also sell undercarriage spray that is sprayed on wheelwells and makes them new again, with a silicone type liquid. Nice and thick so it will not travel onto finish and wheels after spray. If you have damaged your clearcoat finish, it will look cloudy white instead of clear. If not, then clean ....and wax once a month or so as it makes them easier to clean weekly.
