Automatic Transmission Flush

When do you suppose to do the transmission flush? My 01 maxima has 47k miles, should I do the flush now or wait until I hit 50k miles.

Thanks

3000 miles will pose no difference. Thats like wondering if you should take a shower now, or after scooby doo is over.

I recommend 30K or 2 years whichever comes first.

I just bought a 02 SE back in May. I don't know if the previous owner got it done or not. It had 68K on it and now it has 73K. Should I replace it or is it too late?

changing the AT fluid is no big deal, its not like you are going to gain anything. I changed mine at 110,000 and it looked fine, and Im sure it hadnt been changed in a long time. but anytime is good I guess. its nothing like your oil.

you must work for jiffy lube. 30K? this fluid is designed to last the life of the transmission. Provided you use Nissan-matic.

60k change if you're really ****. I'd say at least 100k for most drivers.

Being that a new transmission can cost up to $2500 i'd use nissan matic fluid only. What's that gonna cost you? $30 more?

The owners manual recommends flushing the fluid every 30 k miles. I guess Nissan doesnt think the fluid lasts the life of the transmission. I flushed mine with mobil 1 synthetic atf at 36k miles when I bought the car. I worked at Speedee Oil Change and Tune Up and just used our machine with 14 quarts cost me like 80 dollars.

That's a great write up. My only question is... you refilled the transmission just to drain it again? Can you drain the fluid in the torque converter without adding new fluid? So drain it all off... then put in new fluid.

the oil in the converter will be pushed out before the new one. I added 4.5 Q in the same +- anmount that I took out when you remove the plug. You need to keep oil inside the tranny at all times while you run the engine and go by all the gears. If I were you I wouldn't do it but it is up to you. The oil will change colors and then you know that all your old oil is out. Good luck
