Getting rid of EGR after headers install

I'm helping my friend install headers on his 02 Maxima. I noticed the headers don't have a port for that stupid EGR tube so I was wondering...can we get rid of the EGR tube? Will that trip a check engine light?

i was under the impression that 02/03 maxs were all cali spec and didnt have egrs. but i may just be dumb. i know my 00 fed spec has an egr and i cant remove it or i will get a ses light and theres no simulator for it that ive found.

this is the only reason my hotshots are still int he box. im either gonna hvae to have soem custom welding or trade soemone for a set of cattmans which have an egr bung, at least from what ive been told.

2000 Cali specs have an EGR also...

If you have it welded before install it should not be that hard at all... I have been drving with a CEL from mine for about a year.

Ohhhhh ok...nevermind then! That's sweet his 02 doesn't have an EGR...didn't know that, guess it's bad to think ahead sometimes haha. Anywayz, the install should begin tomorrow. I hate hooking up other people's car so it becomes faster than mine
