Governor on 5.5 gen auto

After thorough searches on this site I have come to the conclusion that the 5.5 gen automatics peak out at 130mph. I am wanting to know if getting the TS ECU will remedy this problem. Is this a top speed or is there a lower governed speed?
Before I get flamed by eveyone and their brother, I just wanted to know because my car topped out at 130 on the dyno, but I wasn't in Overdrive. The others that I have gained info from seemed to have driven at these speeds. I've been told the overdrive would make quite a difference.
Let the flaming commence.

the technosquare is very reliable and would help u out a lot. if you look on the site it should tell you everything about it. but I know a guy who had one and he said it was very impressive when he had his 5.5...especially if it gives you the ability to redline im sure you'll go over 130. he has a 6th gen now.

The reason your car 'topped' out at 130 on the dyno is because that is when the rev limiter (6550) kicksin when in 3rd gear.

The TS ecu wont do much for you besides remove the rev limiter. I've taken mine beyond 130 w/o the TS ecu.

If you're going to spend $$ on a mod, get headers instead.

how is the 130 limit a "problem" since its about 50 higher then you will ever be allowed to drive your car?

Whoever said there was a stock speed limiter @ 130 lied to you. My car has been @ 137.xx on the dyno... I was too to take it higher.

The top speed limiters these ECU companies try and boast by 'removing' them are for advertising purposes only, as none of us sane members will ever go that fast.

when i was on the highway going outta town, i was cruising along and its a long **** bridge I always gun it on like a mile long. hadi it in 6th going about 70. stayed in the same gear and took it high as it could go and it stopped at 130. but when I raced a Lex LS once I was maxing out every gear and it got up to 147 and still had some to go on stock motor.

Going 100+ mph is just never a good idea. Even on a straight road with nobody around, traveling that fast will only land you trouble, as road imperfections have amplified effects on your car, sudden obstacles (deer?) are always a risk, and the chance of having an accident (even a minor one) are increased, as well as there is always the with LIDAR. The only way to eliminate these risks is on a closed track that was built for high speed testing/racing, so unless that's your cup of tea, I wouldn't worry about the speed limiter (I didn't know this generation had one? Seems foolish the 4th gen SE would have a higher top speed than a 5.5 gen SE?)

You're a cop??? "9 dtalon, this is ond of the times when you gotta be careful what you say".

The fastest I went on my 5.5th gen was 130 as well, stops whenever you reach that! That's funny how some of the guys say 130 is fast...you guys haven't seen fast! I just might say that everything over 155mph might be fast, not some 130! But in any way we're not allowed to do that on the public roads anyway.

well there are no deer here in the city lol and if the car can go that fast, theres no problem. and if a cop sees you going that fast while he's sitting. he's not coming. and most arent scared. not like its beat up road unless somebody is dumb enough to drive that fast on beat up road or ice or something. i'd watch the road if i were going that fast anyway

I think the 5.5 gens are limited to 130 or so.

I know for a fact that my 02 I35 tops out at what looks like an indicated 132mph and its not because its drag or rev limited. I think given no limiter they would hit somewhere between 145-155. I know the 6th gens can hit 160 cause I have a video of one doing it

BTW THIS is FAST

http://thelotspot.com/videos/Summer06/ppptopspeed.wmv

Remember when your doing an indicated 130 in your car its really around 125 GPS verified. This video cuts out short but he ends up going much faster than that. A few months later he crashed the car... serves him right, even I say this is plain STUPID and I go VERY fast

anybody who is encouraging anybody else to go 130mph for any reason on public roads qualifies as "stupid people."

It wasnt a normal car its an 1800lb dodge colt with an engine swap. It has a Evolution motor in it pushing 700+whp, he was on low boost in that video at only around 550whp.

Even though its a FWD car it runs low 10s and traps at 150+ I dont know how far into the 200s he got but supposedly he hit those speeds several times before the car got soo loose on him (because of lift) that he lost control. He actually got lucky and walked away (Lucky being a severe understatement, although he wont tell anyone exactly what happen I would imagine he lost control of the car and it just slid along the highway on its side for like half a mile and he got lucky he didnt hit anything.

If it was during the same scenario as was in the video, then yes...

regardless of how fast it might be, it's still a colt : I'd rather drive a slow, nice car than a fast loser-mobile.

I can tell you for a fact that the 5.5 gen 6-speed will do over 150 on the factory ECU without hitting a governor. Not just on a dyno either.

You guys wanna see fast in a completly stock car, if any of you have speed channel on demand order(its free) the 2007 BMW M6 Test drive, or if you've seen it on regular speed network. A German race-car driver(forget his name) takes Tommy Kendall and the 500 HP M6 on the autobahn, he gets it up to 194 MPH in 7th gear, all shown on its HUD before he slows down, and they have a great time doing it. yes i know we dont have the autobahn, i was just saying... i wouldnt do that in the states though

Thats because It's.... THE AUTOBAHN

That big voice announcer guy would have had a more dramatic effect saying that but... I seen a documentary a few years back and I remember this guy saying he regularly does 200+ to and from work. I'm gonna check out that episode though. Boy, how did this thread get so far off topic

Ok. This tool is on OhioNissans.com (which I'm the Admin of) and what this video doesn't show you is that he totalled this car at 150+ mph and is currently being sued by the city/state. If you think it's cool, then you're about as much of an idiot as JP (owner of the dead colt).

Don't try to beat the speeding ticket record...

Don't try to beat the speeding ticket record by getting cought at 130 MPH! The world's fastest speeding ticket was at 245 MHP in Koenigsegg in Texas!
Now that's FAST!

ive hit 130 on the freeway, at like 3am. it seems like the car goes to 130 easily and then just struggles after that. mines auto too. but ive only done it once, since its pointless, unless if this car can go any faster.
