exhaust clanking noise
This morning as I was going over speed bumps, I noticed a clanking sound coming from under the car. I crawled under the car and noticed that the pipe connecting the cat to the muffler is not secured. The entire exhaust therefor shakes up and down hitting the undercarriage of the car. How do I resolve this? Thanks.

what part was welded? There's a bridge that the pipe sits on. Could I just secure the pipe to that bridge with a heavy guage wire?

This happened to me too. The spot where it was welded from the factory was crap and it broke apart from the exhaust pipe. That welded portion was also part of the support hanger which was why my exhaust pipe would bounce freely. My temporary fix was to take a hose clamp and clamp the pipe to the broken hanger.

CRAP!
the (last) pipe leading INTO the muffle has broken off from the muffler. The pipe IS part of the muffler assembly. A new muffler would resolve the problem but it would be nice not to spend that money right now.
Can it be welded back together? This exhaust has 110K miles on it and a five mild DC winters.
Thanks for your help.
