HID bulb blown after less than 1 year...
I bought a set of performance depot 2002-2003 headlight replicas last November and the low beam bulb has blown in one of the headlights. Is it normal to have one blow in less than 1 year? I was checking the prices for a new one and they are outrageous. Also, is 6000k the brightest in the D2R?

Is it the bulb or the ballast that has gone on you? If you move the bulb over from the other side, does it light up?
Also, do you abuse your HIDs? Do you run with them on all the time, or no? Running with them on is not bad for them. However if you do not run with them on all the time and pull the high beams to flash someone you are ignighting the HIDs and the halogen bulbs. This is really bad for the HID bulb.
The same thing goes for the alarm. Does or has your alarm going off for a long periods of time? This also ignights and re-ignights your bulbs over and over again.
No, 6000K D2R is not the brightest - 4300K is. Anything over 4300K and you're going to start losing lumens. Check HID planet for new bulbs / ballasts / etc.

Thanks for the reply. You made a good point about whether it is the bulb or the ballast. I assumed it was the bulb since the high beam was working, but I guess the ballast has nothing to do with the high beam. The HIDs are definately not abused....lights are on only when it is dark. After the round plastic cap is removed, I would need to remove the small screws in order to remove the bulb...Is that correct? I assume that since there is a hazard warning on the back that the battery needs to be unhooked when removing the HID bulbs? Thanks for your help.

I don't think you need to remove the screws to take out the bulb. It should just twist out, or there may be two little metal clips holding the bulb in. I haven't looked at the HIDs on my car yet. I know more about projection style HIDs then I do the refelctor setup.
But, I don't think you'd need a screwdriver to remove the bulbs. Someone else who has exact experience with 2k3 HIDs will have to chime in.

you bought oem replica headlight you say right? how much did you spend? the headlights are probablly the replica one. i bought a set off ebay for $590 shipped and they are made from depo. the headlights are replicas of the oem nissan ones but the bulbs and ballasts that i got were genuine philips parts which are very high quality. try switching the bulbs from the driver side to the passenger side and vice versa. see if the non working side will work on the other side. if the bulb work then it's probablly the ballast that is messed up. but if you take the non working side and put it to the other side and it still doesn't work then it's the bulb that died. do you have philips ballasts when you got the headlights?
edit: oh by the way, was the lense on the headlights super clear when you bought them? how's the fitment on the car? i haven't really got mine yet it's being retrofited with tsx projectors right now. i bought it from performance depot guy on ebay too.

Don't remember the price. I bought one headlight assy. from the performance depot guy and another from an org. member. The performance depot headlight does have the phillips ballast and the other one says made in Germany. Both headlights are identical and are very clear. I did have fitment issues with both headlights. On both sides of the headlights where they sit against the front of the fender, there is a gap between the headlight and the fender. I'm not sure why there is a gap, but I was looking at them the other night and I think I know. There is a thin tab that is part of the fender and is supposed to slide into a slot in the headlight. I think that the tab is sticking out further than the depth of the slot, not allowing it to sit flush against the fender. If anyone knows how to remove the HID bulb for sure, please chime in. I saw some screws in the back after I unscrewed the round cap and also some metal clips as someone else mentioned.
