No Start!!

I need some help!!! I took the car out for a ride, around fifteen miles at fifty-five / sixty... everything normal.... I parked...went inside my home...came out...got in the car and now the car won't start! It is turning over but no luck.

I have gas in it so that's eliminated.... any ideas on what it could be??

I did a org. search for errors but it's not my check engine light coming on. The " AT Check " light is blinking sixteen times but I have no clue what that means. That is the only signal I'm getting from my cluster. Any help is appreciated, thanx in advance.

So it cranks but doesnt start. you need to check for fuel pressure.

I just looked at the manual. Your tranny light should flicker 12 times in rapid sequence. If it flashes rapidly then slowly for one of the 12, it means you are throwing a trouble code.

You said it is flashing 16 times (?) if it's flashing 16 times slowly, it means your battery is weak or connected "conversely". Straight from the manual.

Get a jump. See if that makes a difference. Chances are your battery needs to be replaced.

Correction. The manual doesnt state any significance for 16 flashes. Only 12. I don't know if you counted wrong or if 16 slow flashes means your battery is low....

It's definitely sixteen but it's pretty rapid. I counted it about five times just to make sure. I honestly don't have a clue. I will try to jump it regardless just to see if helps. The only thing I saw from searching was a possible issue with spark plugs needing to be changed. ****... I don't know....

Update for anyone getting the same symptoms.

I talked with three different Nissan dealerships and none of them could tell me what the AT Check was. One of them didn't even no what it was in the first place.

It finally struck me to get my voltameter and start checking fuses. I found the culprit to be a 15amp fuse. Under the vaccum line there is a sensor there which had a bare wire. I think that's why the fuse blew in the first place. None the less I took some electrical tape to it and replaced the fuse.

Ahh... how close I was to taking my car to the dealership to have them test it for a code.

Thanx Paredline for trying to help me out.

Unfortunately it looks like the tranny is in "Fail Safe" mode. Did the car drive absolutely normally before this? If you do get it started somehow, expect performance issues. In theory the tranny will be locked in third. I'm afraid it looks like a dealer visit for you.

It was out of the fuse box right next to the battery. Engine Cont II. 15amp.

I went for a drive and stayed out for at least an hour and everything is good so far. Like I said the wires were exposed on one of the sensors and I think they touched the metal. At least I would like to think that's what it is. If anything does come up then I'll update here.

Newbie needing help but can't start a thread yet.

Car turns over but won't start. Turn key over again and spin for a few seconds, still no start. Turn key again; may start, may not. Not consistant. Will eventually start though.

Check engine light on but AutoZone's cheap unit won't give code numbers. Just something about a cam sensor and left bank something or another.

Any ideas ?

My knowledge lies with cosmetic, not too sure of your problem. None the less I hope someone chimes in and helps you out. If nothing else you could do what I did and start checking fuses. It's what I did but if your car is starting then I don't know if this will be your fix or not.

I too am hoping someone will chime in and help. Likewise, I suspect it to not be a fuse issue since it does eventually start.

could be your mass air flow sensor. I went through the same thing when mine failed.

a bad cam sensor can cause this problem. If that's the trouble code then change whichever one comes up.

Near the cams. You have two cam shafts. right side of the engine (passenger) on the timing chain covers you'll see two identical plastic sensors. One towards the front, one towards the rear. Or you can spend 19.99 and get a Haynes or Chilton's manual. I recommend you do that especially if you're a newbie!

E-dit. You'll have to figure out which one is bad so you'll need a ohm meter (one of those volt meters with the sliding dials usually have an ohm meter function as well). Both of them wont be bad. None of them might be bad. You need to check before you replace.

Same part number ? Expected expense ????

Does this sensor have a green plastic wire connector on it ?

Also experiencing some odd downshifting activity; could this also be relative to the cam sensor ?

P0345
Camshaft Position
Sensor A - Bank 2
Circuit Malfuntion.

This is what the tester show. I find this to be the sensor closest to the radiator, but parts houses are showing this to be a dealer only option.

Does anyone know where I can get one other than from the dealer ?

hey OP, some advice to you. go to your auto store and get some heat shrink and replace taht bare wire, then heat shrink it. electrical tape doesn't seal that well and u don't want that piece to start corroding on you
