Hey guys

I just picked me up a 5.5 gen tonight. I owned a 4th gen for about 6 months until it had engine knock, I sold it, I got into an argument with my friend I told him I think its faster than an sr powered s13, and he says no its not, its really slow, but the way the car put me in the seat and accelerated, I think its really fast, going to change my oil tomorrow, any suggestions on any more maintance? Also if you know about 240s and maximas let me know if its faster or slower than 240s, btw mine is a GLE fully loaded. One more questions, guys please answer this, is it voiding the warranty if I install an exhaust, or a CAI, or putting some tein springs?

What if you put Eibach springs, would that void your warranty the same as Tien springs

... Anyway, those will only void the warantee on the part replaced (obviously) and on parts directly related on the part you replace. ie. if you install headers the dealer will probably not cover your O2 sensors.

Nice buy BTW.

Check this thread http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=487272

Then Google the Magnuson-Moss warranty act

Why must people argue instead of taking a trip to the track? I'm guessing your excuse was that you did not have the 5th gen at the time. Valid at the time I suppose.

You have a GLE fully loaded so it's the heaviest of all Maximas and it's automatic, hence making it the slowest of the A33Bs (02/3).

There have been common cases of stock 4AT (4 speed automatic transmissions) taking 14.7-9 to complete the 1/4 mile, and finishing that distance @ 94-7mph.

Not too sure but I'm guessing your friend in the SR powered S13 is boosted, though you made no mention of that. So use and look for common times for a similarly set-up S13.

Read the warranty act.

I'll say this, it depends on the dealership.

Put headers, POP charger, Progress or Eibach, Illuminasm and tune it with a VAFCII abd call it good.

Tien S techs are trash, stay away. What CAI are you referring to? If it's the Injen, once again stay away.

Don't ask about headers etc because I'm willing to bet my retirement that the question you're thinking of asking has been answered before.

A word of advice,.... Doante, it makes things on here a lot easier.

That’s because we get newbs all the time that don't bother to read the FAQ and stickies...

The mods and other members have tried to consolidate as much knowledge as possible into them and we still get the SAME questions over and over and over again.

- What gas mileage are you getting?
- So What intake is BEST?
- It is cold outside, why is my gas going faster?
- I have some money from my parents, what should I buy?
- How are these ebay projectors?
- What bulbs should I put in my headlights/fogs?
- I think I want a y-pipe, what one should I get?
- Are headers worth it?
- What springs should I go with?
- Are coilovers worth it?
- My muffler rusted off/hole in pipe, WHAT DO I DO?
- What rims should I get because I cannot make up my own mind...
- Is a FSTB worth it?
- Is a RSB worth it?
- I just installed a useless part, here are 16 huge pics of it, what do you think?
- I want a fugly ricer bodykit, what one should I get?
- Looking at a 5th gen, should I buy one?
- How much should I pay for a 5th gen?
- Is the 5th gen better than a 4th gen? (yes it is)
- What is better, 5th gen or 5.5gen?
- What is the difference between the 5th gen and the 5.5gen?
- Poor performance, I have never done any maintenance other than change my oil and I have 400,000 miles on my car; what is wrong with it?
- My tranny is slipping, what is wrong?
- Can I switch to a leather interior?
- My car is making a clunking sound, What is it? BTW I will not tell where the sound is coming from, when it does it, NOTHING, just tell me what it is.
- I put on an Injen intake and now my car feels like a POS, what is wrong?
- What brake pads are best?
- Why do my OEM brakes suck?
- How are Brembo blanks?
- Are slotted/drilled rotors worth it?

1. Welcome to the 5th Gen forums...

2. Just get to a track and run in the same conditions or look in the 1/4 mile forums for average times 5.5s are pulling and then compare it to what your friend's S13 is running. Its pointless speculating this based on the other car, hp, mods, driver, etc.

3. I would do whatever periodic maintenence it outlines in your owner's manual for your specific mileage if you don't trust the previous owners.

4. I highly recommend reading ALL the Stickies in this forum, as well as looking through all the other forums (Maintenence, Track and Tune, etc) and you'll find lots of good info (inc. what has already been posted in this thread), including how to deal with the mods vs warranty issue.
