Clean fuel injectors ...

What does everyone recommend for a fuel injector cleaner? Will something simple and cheap do the trick, or is it something I should stay away from? I was thinking of the STP stuff available at any local auto shop or Walmart. I think that's what dealers use.

Also, whenver I used the Techron Chevron on my Ford Zetec, I would INSTANTLY get a CEL... It happen 3 times on 3 oil changes.... Unfortunately I never had the time to get the codes.. and I knew was related to the product...

Anyone ever heard about that happening? I since have not bought the Techron stuff anymore.

I have had mixed results with fuel injector cleaners. In my old mercedes I used techron in a few tanks of gas to help with a rough idleing issue. The techron actually made the rough idle problem worse. I hypothesize that the techron loosened up scale from the rest of the fuel system allowing it to deposite in the injectors.

I ended up removing the injectors and back flushing them with techron in an ultrasonic cleaner. This made a huge improvement in the old gal.

bg44k is supposed to be pretty good. It is used in Nissan's 30k 60k and 90k tune-ups.

I agree................

I only use BG44K I have about 5 bottles & 1 can left of the old formula. On bobs site the new BG44K" Well not so new like 2 years new" is not as good as the old formula.

This depends on the dealer itself right?

The 44K is good stuff. BG also has available a canister, used for induction cleaning that can be adapted to clamp to the fuel rail inlet. You disable the fuel pump and block the return line, then pressurize the canister with shop air, and actually run the car on the 44k. This is probably the most effective way to power flush the injectors with the cleaner at full strength. 3M also has a pressurized bottle that hooks up in much the same way, but does not require the shop air to use. I have done the 3M setup on my car and it did improve the overall running of the car. More power felt on acceleration.
