Oh Yes you can..... I did it!
If you install a JL Clean Sweep it allows your HU have to RCA outputs and and AUX imput. (Perfect for....iPOD) Also add Amps to you factory HU and your dash looks factory and stealth.

Check it out: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_c...php?page_id=79
so the HU itself doesnt have a AUX input...I was right.
AUX input (cant do with stock HU)

of course you can add something...

why would you want to spend the regular price of $ 399.00 when you can get a good HU for less? to me $400 is way to much to spend for iPod integration (which is what this thread is about). i realize that gives you more...but thats not what this thread is about.

I concur with this... I spent $125 on the USA SPEC Ipod Adapter and felt that I spent too much, but am really happy so who cares. $400 for IPOD integration is ludicrous. You can buy a new HU with the IPOD apapter for that price.

SpottyJ., I will try and take a pic tomorrow. Its already dark out.

I purchased mine for $225.00. I did not pay JL's MSRP of $399.00.
Also if you know what you are doing you can install it yourself.
Install = free.

Soonerfan,
I am not talking out my a$$ on this one, I was just trying to give a different opinion of how you can add a AUX to a factory HU. Believe me when I say I have much respect for you and the other fellow org members. I think I read 1000x more than I post.
I owe a huge thank you to you and Irish44j, PuppetMaster, Metal Maxima, Chr0nos, Housecor and many others on the ORG members because many of your FYI and DIY have helped me many times in the past.

Also,as a newbie...hahaha I joined. Aug 2005 and only have 35 post I have learned how to "Search"

Plus it is just not an iPod interface. (See Below) It makes your factory HU sound 100x better than any ALPINE or Kennwood or whatever other unit you think of adding. I was just trying to say you can add an AUX to a Factory HU and look stealth and end up with a better more flexable system expandable system in the end. Anyhow, After market HU also have poor output freq range and built in distortion that goes up as you turn up the vol.
Your music also could sounds like crap with an AMP added. If you start with a poor signal and amplify it you will still just get a crappy sound and be hunting all over for bad grounds.

anyhow, just my $.02.... Thanks again guys for all you help and articles.

(See Below)
How does the CleanSweep™ CL441dsp differ from
other line-output interfaces?
The CL441dsp does much more than just convert the level of OEM signals to be compatible with aftermarket amplifier inputs. It corrects equalization using 120 bands of fully digital equalization (30 bands in each of its four channels). It also provides a linear master volume control and an additional input so that you can add a source of your choice. Unlike conventional, passive line output converters, the CL441dsp does not degrade frequency response or signal-to-noise performance.
