Gas mileage on my 5.5 gen has gone down. Mileage is 50k and I dont know if the previous owner ever replaced the spark plugs. Im thinking of getting Bosch. What are your thoughts?

ohh...I had bosch spark plugs on my 01 Prelude so I assumed it would be great on the Maxima also. Cool I will stick with NGK in that case. Double platinum correct? Do I have to go to the dealer for these or can I buy them elsewhere?

Advanced auto or O'Reilly will have the best price on the plugs locally, they're still going to run ya about 10 bucks a plug.

Replaced my spark plugs this past weekend with NGK Iridium IX, so far so good, car idles better, and hesitation in the morning w/ the engine cold is literally gone. Have about 82k miles on my car.

yeah like mints said..advanced and it will be about 60-65 bucks total.. and dont try to get the reg. NGK plats that they have for like 3 bucks, cuz i tried to be cheap and learned my lesson the hard way,. had to pull the crap cheap plugs out and put the double ones back in ... so pay the extra money and do the job once

apparently Maxima's are picky about their plugs. was talking to my guy at the parts department at my dealership and he said every car thats come in that doesn't have the specific NGK plugs in em, runs bad. they're expensive, but its a key part of your engine.. dont mess around.

When I read the stickies I could not find a Nissan part number for our plugs. PLFR5A-11 is listed extensively, but this is an NGK number not a Nissan number.

I was just about to start searching for this myself. Good info, by the way is there a specific torque we should use to put them back in?

Specify your car and it'll give you the right part #. Take the part # to the dealer and they'll have them.

Alternatively, if you do not want to pay $17 per plug, go to mynismo.com and get them from there. Half the price my dealer wanted.

i dont remember exactly.. but im pretty sure that this number PLFR5A-11 was the number that is on the actual plug itself...if u go to autozone or whoever you'll be able to find the right one no prob,.. IMO it makes no difference form the dealer or not because all of mine came pregapped and were perfect (i checked)

Those are the ones I put in my 5th gen Max, and they are running fine. The car idles smoother and runs pretty well when it's dead cold outside at first engine start up.

VQ35 plugs are longer, so do not use DEK plugs.
