Didn't even think they made 4cyl Max's. Actually pretty sure they don't.

2000 5-speed, usually pulling about 33-3500 RPM's at 80. I understand it to be pretty normal for this car to rev that high.

The 5spd gear ratios are shorter, hence the peppy acceleration in comparison to the autos.

The general rule of thumb with the 5spd vq30 in the maximas:

2nd gear - 10mph/ 1000 rpm (40 mph @ 4000 rpm)
3rd gear - 15mph/ 1000 rpm (60 mph @ 4000 rpm)
5th gear - 75mph @ 3000 rpm, 100 mph @ 4000 rpm

Tire sizing and such will affect the speedometer, so give or take 100-200 rpms for sake of argument.

These are all confirmed on my 5spd with an ECU reader plugged into the ODB-II port and also real-time with my Blitz R-VIT unit

That is INSANE! Driving like a total granny on a highway trip, I have gotten 500 miles on a tank a couple of times and I thought I was doing VERY well. I can't imagine how you could get 570. Downhill, tailwind, and maintaining speed at about 55mph???

It doesn't matter if you have bolt ons or not.

Same with the 'rating', I never get what mine is rated at.

80mph for my 2K 5-speed is 3250 RPM exactly. Doesn't waste much gas however.

depends on the car...just look at all the responses in this thread. 100 rpms isn't exactly a big difference....

if his clutch was slipping minorly (even just super minorly), then it would be roasted after a few hundred miles...

If the clutch was slipping the RPM's would be higher, hence your clutch might be super minrly slipping, since your RPM's are higher than his.

but I highly doubt it's that...it's a simple gauge error. Like I said before, 100 rpms isn't that much of a difference, especially on those gauges.

i drove another 6spd max...and rode in another...they both had similiar gearing to mine

and if my clutch was super minorly slipping...then my clutch would be by now..hehe

the margin of error on the gauges is rather wide. Either that or i'm shifting at 7500 rpm at times

This is a great thread. I just got my '01 SE 3 weeks ago and my trip to work is usually around 80mph. Was a little concerned about the gas mileage too but sounds like everything is where it should be.

I too am a 80/3300 owner. =)

Well since I had to do a little grocery shopping, I decided to make a video with my phone in the interim so that there is definitive evidence what RPM's 80MPH is at. My wheels are the stock 16" SE's. I'm sure different wheel/tire sizes yield different results. Cruise was set @80ish... and of course, I'm 5spd only baby!.... BTW, pay no attention to that yellow light under the cruise indicator. My phone was actin up. It was night time so I had the flash set on. Otherwise, it would have turned out better.

anything in relation to "custom" in this case is highly likely but not quite feasible.

It'd be easier for you to dig through a Nissan catalog and figure out the gears that can cross reference
