I recommend you keep it stock.

I agree. The lack of a "firewall" in the trunk can be very dangerous should a fire occur or anything awkward like that.

Although it might look cool it would be a definite risk. You never know especially if you are the one doing the re-wire. Keep it stock and be safe. If you are dead set on it then I would like to see some pics after you do it.

Don't Do It!

I agree - keep it stock. I had a trunk-mounted battery as the OEM design in my former car - a 1999 BMW 540 6-speed. And even though that's the way it was meant to be, it was a pain, except for hooking up my subwoofer amp.

The battery had to be vented, and if the vent got blocked or unhooked accidentally, battery acid would leak out, causing all kinds of corrosion trouble. Total PIA. So many times I wished for a normally-located battery on that car....

I'll have mine re-located in just a week or two. I will take some pics when i'm done for everyone. One big plus is being able to transfer 20-30 lbs. to the rear of the car from the front. Also clears up lots of room under the hood.

I would like to see the pics.

However, what are you planning to do with the space? Perhaps run a true CAI or something??? If you aren't going to do anything with it then it's just going to look like Azz IMO.

I have had my battery in the trunk of my car for about a year with no problems, just make sure you get a nice battery box, plus you should use a yellow or red top battery so theres less chance of it leaking, i have been running the yellow top.

Can you post up a pic of both your trunk set up and a shot of under the hood now? Thanx.

I was going to fabricate my own cai but ended up with some extra money and decided to just buy the injen one instead. I'm still happy having more room under hood. It just makes getting to things easier, and unclutters the engine compartment. The plan is to secure a plastic battery box to the floor of the trunk, and use an optima red top.

I relocated mine...if you want to do it right/clean, take your time... I just drilled through the trunk body floor where it was level and "crossweighted" the battery from where I sit to offset my weight. I didn't buy a box kit from summit, I bought the taylor/summit kit with the tray and everything else you need, but I have an optima red top so it's sealed therefore I don't have to vent it--worry about fumes...I will try to get pics, but I am terrible at taking pics as even when I sell things on here, I keep promising a pic, but I always forget...and it never happens cause I get busy with other stuff...
