Acceleration Problem

Hey guys, im normally in the 4th gen section but i need some info on a 2002 se. Its my dads maxima, and every time he fills the tank, and floors it, his car bogs and dies on him. He says it take him about 10 mins of just letting the car sit and then it will fire right back up and run fine untill he refills the tank. there are no CEL present, im baffled on what it could be. any help appreciated, and sorry if this is a repost im new to the 5th gen section.

Thanks in advance,
-Colin

Does his car still have that fuel tank shutter intact, or did it fall off/go away?

yes he does. here alittle more info on the car. it a 2002 as stated above its an auto with about 130,000 miles give or take. he runs fuel cleaner through every third oil change. could it have something to do with the injectors, fuel rail, pump, fuel filter.ETC...?

Doesn't sem like a common problem.

How does the car run otherwise? Normal MPG, stable idle, good power etc?

yeah the car is very strong overall. it has had a boggle every once in awhile where it has a tough time accelerating past 4 grand but i think its the MAF. but yes in other words it runs just fine. its stock other than an injen intake.

Injen intakes are .. Might be all the hot air it's sucking in from that intake.

So, your dad has to sit at the gas station for ~10 mins before he gets going again?

My car takes a few more cranks just after I fuel up, but it's because I lost the fuel shutter somewhere, just noticed it gone one day when refueling.

No he can take right off again but when he floors it, the car bogs and shuts down. then he has to wait about 10 min or so before he can start it again.

Sounds more and more like a MAF problem.

+1 on the maf. I believe many people have had weird problems similar to that without any codes being thrown and maf was the culprit
