Installed EBC Rotors...weird noise.

My buddy installed these high-end EBC slotted/dippled rotors along with new OEM pads a few months ago. And now I notice this weird noise when driving (not from braking). I hear this hiss/light taps when I drive and the noise spped varies according to car speed. When I go faster at like >55mph it turns into faster light tapping noise similar to playing cards hitting the spokes on the rim. When driven slow...it is more like a slower continuous hiss hiss hiss.....It gets more noticable when driven next to a curb or wall from the echoes. The noise comes from the front wheel area. My buddy is quite knowledgable and he told me that it is just normal wind noise from these slotted/dippled rotors. Anyone experienced the same noise?

Check to see if the brake dust shields are touching the spinning rotor.

The hissing is normal. The tapping...hmmm that's a new one. Check to see if anything is loose, or if you have contact somewhere you shouldn't.

Tapping may be the brake hardware hitting your rim. I mean hardware as in the brackets you put on the pads for vibration dampening and to relief the pad off the rotor.

a better description of the noise (when driving/ not braking) is more like crickets' churping at nighttime. It gets quite noticable when windows are rolled down and driven next to a curb.

Could also be those tabs that are on the caliper clips that are used to pull the pad away from the rotor. Those make that noise when they arent clipped into the pad tabs

took the car to me buddy to get it checked..he found out that the pad is slightly touching the rotor so he ended up sanding down the edges of the pads. The noise is now reduced by half but still exist. He told me that it is normal for slotted rotors.

Irish, I have a question. Wouldn't the noise be a constant grind if the dust shield is touching the rotor? He check the caliper clips and it was the cause.
