2K3 Bumper On 2K1

I own a 2K1 SE and I was in an accident and have to have my front bumper replaced. I had been thinking about replacing my headlights with 2K3 headlights. My question is would a 2K3 bumper fit my car without any modifications? I talked to the people at the auto body shop and told them to check into prices between the two of them.

Oh and do ya’ll think there would be a big difference in the prices?

The 02-03 bumper should fit fine, alot of people on here have gone that route also. Here are prices for both

Yeah, if they price you on a new set of HID's, it's going to be at least over $1000.00. Plus, if you get the 2k2-2k3 bumper, you will need the 2k2-2k3 fogs as well, which will increase the price even more. Make sure that if you decide to get the bumper, it's a Nissan OEM. The aftermarket ones usually have fitment problems. Try to work with your insurance company on this. They usually work replacements with aftermarket parts first, depending how old the car is. Good luck!

+1 on OEM vs. aftermarket. My rear bumper is aftermarket and the fitment is just off enough to p!ss me off every time I look at it

Rats, that's what I was afraid of, so it is going to defiantly cost me more if I go with 2k3 bumper and HID's. I wonder if I could find it a junk yard for something like that.

From what I've gathered in the past you need more than just the front bumper and hids/fogs.. got to get the grille and I believe someone said something about the fenders? I don't remember it was a while ago but I'm looking to do the same thing, just don't know who would do the work in upstate New York.

Yeah, the grille and fogs are easy to come by....you can buy these on ebay. As far as the fenders, there's no need to adjust to these. The 2k2-2k3 bumpers bolt right on the 2k-2k1 models with no problems. I believe you may need a small adjustment like dealing with the clips and reinforcements from what I can remember.

Not what I wanted to hear.

I know everybody recommended going OEM but I am really feeling the Halo Projector HID's that are being sold on ebay. Are they really that bad? And from what I have been reading supposedly some fit the 2k1 bumper. I really wanted to swap the grille out too though.

Those projector's are crap!! Stay away from those. The light output is terrible, and plus it's a total waste of money! The 2k-2k1 bumpers are exactly the same, but the OEM grilles are NOT interchangeable (to the 2k2-2k3's) if you were deciding to go this route. But, as far as the 2k2-2k3 HID's, they fit perfectly on the 2k-2k1 bumpers. All that is required is swapping out the headlight clips and finding someone to give you instructions on the wiring procedure. But, all and all, please stay away from the projector's and save your money towards the OEM HID's. You'll be glad you did.

@Squirrel82, sorry but my car is already at the auto body shop through my insurance.

@MIXXMAX, you probably right but those halo/angel eyes look sweet man. My problem is that I own a 2K1 because aint much I can do mod wise. Maybe I can sell my car and get a 2K3. Only thing is my car has less than 50K miles. Not sure if I will be able to find anything in my area with similar specs.

My bumper is madefor a 02/03 max it fits perfect if u get the 02 headlights or the ebay projectors. if you keep the stock 00 lights there will be a gap. If you get the ebay make sure you do the projector retro fit, w/hid.s its alot cheaper than getting 02/03...and has alot more light output. the ebay light suck if you keep them as is. but w/ a little tunning they are pretty sik!

I just got off the phone with the auto bodyshop and they tried to tell me that in order to replace the bumper that they would have to replace everthing behind it as well. Said something about safty issues. I didn't feel like getting into it with them so I just said forget it.

One thing though, I asked them weither or not the replacement parts were after market or OEM and they said they will be after market. So I am not too happy about that espeically after hearing people saying that they might not line up correctly.

They'll know once they try the aftermarket that it won't fit properly. If it doesn't fit, they have to (should) install the OEM. I had dealt with many insurance adjusters in the past and know for a fact that Nissan aftermarket (replica OEM) body parts don't fit properly and must settle with OEM in order to be done right. BlackFlux, keep checking up on them so they are on top of things in getting things done for your satisfaction.

The common rules are once a car is over 3 years old they insurance companies arent REQUIRED to use OEM. They only have to use aftermarket. I have always paid the extra 50 bucks or so to get OEM panels. There really isnt a WHOLE lot of difference in prices so if they arent REQUIRED to use OEM just pay the different. YOU will be happier with the fitament. I had a 2000 and they put an aftermarket bumper on my car without my approval and it looked like ****!~

Here is a list of what you need.

02-03 front bumper. (I got my OEM one for $125 when I was in an accident)
02-03 grille (~$50)
02-03 headlights and ballasts ($100-600; depends on what you find)

You will not need this, but it will make the car look like it came from the factory:

02-03 fender plastic lining
02-03 foglights

Paint should cost around $125-500.

My cousin with a 2000 was in a minor accident. I went to the Certifit and decided to buy him a 2002 bumper. It just went on from there. After it was all said and done, my cousin's full conversion, including a new hood cost around $750 for everything. Crackhead prices...I know.

Hood and bumper ($225)
Headlights ($100)
Ballasts ($50)
Paint for hood and bumper ($300)
Grille ($40)
Fogs ($30)

You will not need the fenders from a 02-03. Your fenders are identical.

Before

After (no fogs then)

Yeah, these people that work on our cars have no clue of what's going on, so they will say the obvious....you'll need "this" and you'll need "that" in order for it to work. That's why when I need work done on my car, I'll tell them I have owned Nissan cars most of my of my life and I know exactly what I'm talking about so I'll get it done right so there are no surprises. Yeah, the insurance company will only pay for the necessary parts to get the car fixed properly, but if you want some other extras done or modified, it's well worth to pay the extra dollars out-of-pocket while the car is in the body shop. Going this route is far less expensive as compared to getting the whole conversion from jump. BlackFlux, again, tell them what you want done and tell them what you know. Pay the extra cash if needed. If they say it requires unecessary parts, IMHO, I would go somewhere else...to another body shop. That's my $.02.

Before posting my last post I thought after market stood for generic parts. However, it could also mean used parts. I’m not sure if they’re using generic or used on my car, but I am going to call them up something today to see what’s going on.

I have to admit that you guys got me worried about everything lining up correctly. I believe they are replacing the hood as well, so the alignment issue is really messing with me right now. I will keep ya'll informed on what's going on.

***Edit***
Turns out they are using a combination of used, generic (certified), and OEM parts. I checked the estimate and it looks like a lot of the OEM parts are for things like my suspension and mechanical stuff like that.

Oh and I wont get it back until the 18th of December. Crossing my fingers that it will be sooner than that.
