UDP ?'s

I've finally decided upon a UDP as my next mod, and I did a search already, but I still have some questions. First, I just wanted to make sure that gas mileage wasn't affected any. Mine's been bad enough lately as it is. 2nd, should I trust it to a local (VA Beach) mechanic or take a short trip to NY to have the shop (Unorthodox) install it. 3rd, I've heard all sorts of stuff about extra low-end, but there's no high-end trade off, is there? And last, my dealer whines enough about stupid **** like my OSCAI and FTSB, what's a UDP going to do to my warranty? Thanks!

Actually the install isn't that hard. Are you sure you want to pay to have someone do it for you???
The UDP should help your gas mileage, providing you drive it the same as you did before installing it. I have a hard time keeping my foot out of mine, so my mileage isn't as good as it should be either.
The UDP should give a HP gain across the RPM range. The HP gain from an UDP is because the pulley is smaller, thereby underdriving your accessories and also because it is lighter than the stock pulley. Neither of these gains go away at higher RPM, so the benefit should still be there.

I don't really trust myself all that much, but I think if I found someone near me here who knew more about it than me, I might attempt it. As far as my gas mileage goes, I've always been pretty rough on the gas pedal, so there shouldn't be any difference. If it actually increases gas mileage, then I now have my excuse to buy it tomorrow.

Have all the right tools...
if you're gonna install it yourself...I cracked the socket trying to loosen the freakin nut...it is tight. To make a long story short, I ended up taking the car to garage..thank you Mr. Impact wrench.
The underdrive pulley does it's job through out the rpm range, like D/Pearl mentioned. It's not a WOT thing but rather constant, so your return on this mod(investment), is all the time. Mine is black, and you could hardly tell the diff.(visually), between the two once it is installed, however, you will feel the quicker off the line..
Get it! and No, I do not work for Unorthodox!

BAD! I spent 4 hours under my car Saturday. I got down to one bolt on the front flange that I could not get off no matter what. I tried everything. So, I put it all back together and took it to a shop today. It turns out that the bolt I could not get off had its threads stripped. They had to use a propane torch to cut it. Oh well though, the pipe is on now. Definitely feels stronger, though I didn't get a chance to put my foot into it yet because of traffic. I have a slight buzzing noise, any suggestions for that?

That sounds like it was a pretty frustrating Saturday. I found that the buzzing diminishes somwhat after a few days. I suppose you have to allow the flex pipe to "break-in" and become more flexible. I also tried to manually move it around some when installing the y. I also noticed a huge reduction in the sound level when I attached the y to the rubber mount before the pre-cat. The Stillen y is poorly designed regarding this and most people have to modify the flange to attach it or leave it off altogether. Did you have this prob with the Cattman y?
