y-pipe rubbing on cross member

I installed a Warpspeed y-pipe yesterday and now the stock b-pipe is rubbing on the cross member. I added 4 washers/spacers to the cross member bolts but it still rubs. Is the cross member really necessary? Wait, I know it's necessary, but has anyone taken it out and found negative results? I assume the cross member needs to be taken out for an aftermarket b-pipe or full cat-back exhaust. thx

I dont think your talking about the cross member cause you need that for sure (holds 2 MM in place) I think you are refering to that little bar(dont know the name) that holds the ground strap right? I have been without that thing for a while no problems yet after 2yrs of being w.o it.

I mean the rear cross member that has the ground strap. Not the one connected to any suspension or motor mounts. Why did you take it out? thx

I too had the warpspeed y pipe and it seemed to pull my exhaust system down a bit and ocasionally hit, so I removed it and been w/o it ever since.
Dont worry about it you will be fine

Ha Ha It just hit me I think you ended up with my y pipe cause I sold it back in may to a fellow org member
Does this look familiar?

It looks familiar if you sold it to a guy in Reading PA. Did you put on a b-pipe? Where did you get it?

Yeah thats him As for the B-pipe I actually had one custom made at muffler shop near where I live. But if you are asking about the y pipe I got it directly from warpspeed.

Why did you sell it? How much did you pay for the custom b-pipe?

The cross brace under my b-pipe has been off the car for a long time with no issues. I have a Frankencar b-pipe and it was hanging low too.

No cross brace here either. Cattman B-pipe was too low as well. No negative effects that I have issues with.

Ditto what he said. The guy putting it on told me the support wasn't necessary and that the pipe rubbing against it would cause an awful vibration noise but I didn't listen. 2 days later I had him take it off because he was right.

Thanks for the answers. Did the b-pipe give you noticable gains or sound changes? I'd like to have one made, is it worth the trouble?

if you leave the support on from what I have noticed with a warpspeed y pipe it will hit and cause a loud rubbing, slamming noise which seems like it is coming from the center console. It sounds like your exhaust is coming apart. I put a hose clamp on the exhaust hanger and rubber suport, to cut down on this but it hasnt stopped it completly. Someone on the org mentioned about using the hose clamp before but not sure who. To completly prevent this you will have to remove the hanger.

I added the Cattman B, resonator, and muffler at the same time. Yes I got a noticeable gain and a bit too much sound for my taste.

Could someone draw a "cheesey" picture of the hangar location and post it - or PM me? By the way, mines an 01 - not sure if it's the same thing in the 5.5's. I'm doing my Warpspeed install next week and I'll take it out - I just want to make sure I take out the right thing.
